This property only rents Saturday to Saturday so we ended up paying for time we didn't use, but I still think it ended up being cheaper than staying in a hotel. The Bungalow is conveniently located between Loughrea and Gort--both towns have shopping and pubs. From the cottage you can see a couple of castle towers which was really neat. We traveled with my family (2 adults, 3 kids--ages 0,2, and 7), my mom, and brother. There were plenty of rooms and space to spread out. There are a total of 7 beds. 5 upstairs in 2 bedrooms and 2 downstairs in 2 bedrooms. There are 2.5 bathrooms (1 up and 1.5 down). The bathroom upstairs has a shower and a jetted tub. The cottage is equipped with a washer/dryer, microwave, fridge/freezer, and stove in the kitchen. There is no dish washer. One of our biggest complaints that we were unaware of when we booked the property is the heating. The heat is only on from 0800-1000 in the morning and from 1900-2200 in the evening. If you wanted any more heat the owner wanted an extra 2€/hour/day. Since we were on a budget we didn't opt to pay for additional heat. It was miserable the first few nights when the temperature got cold at night and in the morning getting out of the shower into a cold bathroom. There was a fireplace in the living room, but it really didn't help. I would suggest bringing fleece and fleece footie pajamas if you bring kids or don't stay at this property during cold months of the year. The cottage was a little bit dirty, but nothing we couldn't deal with. Overall, the cottage met our needs. We were able to save money by cooking our own meals instead of eating out and we had enough space for everyone. Just be aware of the heat scam. Nowhere was this mentioned when we booked the property through Sykes Cottages.
