  • "We had fantastic week in oak tree Lodge, great place to see all kerry has to offer."

Fab views all around Lodge, deer roaming d garden, beautiful to see. D owner, Kris, so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Welcome pack on arrival, milk, butter, water couple beers in fridge, bread, tea coffee etc such a lovely gesture.. Lodge 5mins from Kate Kearneys cottage so right at start of gap of DUNLOE, killarney Town and national Park 20mins drive. Could not go back to kerry and not stay at oak tree Lodge, a definite gem, it made our holiday. One bit of advice, in summer months I'd recommend bringing a fan for d bedroom,we had ours, can be warm, there is a skylight with blackout blind, great for those lazy mornings. Thanks to Kris and her husband for such a beautiful lodge to stay in.

The only down side was the double bed was not very comfortable, but would definitely stay there again.

Christina provided the perfect place for us , always smiling and extremely helpful but never intrusive , she also had more than the average food items in store for us when we arrived which was such a nice gesture . We enjoyed all aspects of the holiday and the visiting deer and constant sound of the cuckoo made it even nicer . Location was perfect as we are keen walkers .

Milk ; butter biscuits - a surprise. All you need in kitchen, sit in bed with morning tea & looked out over mountains through skylight. Large bedroom in roof with en-suite toilet & basin. Good bathroom downstairs. Comfortable chairs. Outside table & 2 chairs with lovely views of mountains. Perfect place for Ring of Kerry & other local attractions. Aim to return in a couple years. Thank you Chris.

  • "The cottage was comfortable and well equipped."

It was in a good location to explore the south west region. The landlady was helpful and had some essentials (milk, bread, butter, biscuits, tea/coffee etc) in the cottage for our arrival which was a nice touch. Although the property was attached to the main house, it felt like a stand alone property as we did not see or hear anyone for the duration of our stay.

  • "The cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped."

The owners were lovely and on hand if we needed them but unobtrusive. They provided some basic food items on arrival which were much appreciated. The cottage was right next to the Gap of Dunloe and handy for the Ring of Kerry. It was surrounded by gorgeous countryside and we were visited every day by the local deer. Kate Kearney's Cottage was within a few minutes walk and it was nice to have somewhere within walking distance for a drink or meal. There was also a cafe and restaurant nearby.

  • "Directions on website need to be updated and eircode added we found it hard enough to find the house."

No complaints about the house or owners but I was very disappointed that it didn't specify on website that the lodge was part of the owners house we would have preferred a cottage on its own would have been more private

  • "Oak Tree Cottage was absolutely beautiful."

We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay by the owners. The premises were clean and warm and there were ample towels. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want which made it easy to self cater. Locally there is a nice tea room and restaurant which is within walking distance. The scenery was amazing and we were greated by a family of deer on our arrival. I would definitely return next time we visit Ireland.

  • "The accommodation was ideal for these Covid times."

The kitchen was a real bonus being spacious and bright with a gas cooker. We cooked every evening and enjoyed the experience. As a one bedroom holiday accommodation it is bright and spacious and great value for money. Located as it is , near Kate Kearney's cottage, near the Gap of Dunloe it was ideal for walking and as a base to explore Killarney and the beautiful Kerry countryside. While Kerry has many fine beaches we stuck with the Tra Ban (White Strand) about 14 Km outside of Sneem. On occasion we where visited by the local wild deer who pottered through the garden in the very early morning or late evening. I would highly recommend the property for hikers, walkers, photographers or anyone just wishing to be away from the hustle and bustle of Killarney but close enough for an evening out.

The cottage is in a very quiet location within walking distance of stunning scenery but also three places to eat - traditional pub, and two cafes with good daytime food. Well-placed for easy access by car to the Kerry lakes and mountains, Killarney and also the Atlantic coast.
