  • "Had a lovely week here in early March, when the weather was, predictably, very cold and windy!"

But the cottage was cosy with central heating and an open fire in the lounge, the latter a real luxury for us. We read books, watched DVDs (lots in the cupboard) and toured around. The location is very secluded, the scenery is magnificent and in the off-season the roads are uncrowded. Most restaurants are shut in winter but the cottage's kitchen is superbly equipped.

Thank you so much for your review. We were really pleased to hear you had such a comfortable stay and the house felt like a home. The weather can be challenging in March but the fire a good movie and the ever changing vista keep things interesting. We hope you find the time to come again. Property Owner

No tour was given There were no towels in any bathrooms ;we had to contact her regarding this, she said they would be dropped off that day ‘,they didn’t arrive ,so I text her the next day and they arrived that afternoon ,luckily we had brought beach towels The house itself was not very clean ,dust everywhere ,especially on stairs . The kitchen smelt of damp especially the cupboards under the sink were the pans etc were kept A couple of frying pans need replacing The beds were a bit small in in the single bed rooms Also the lounge is small with seating for about 6 people we were a party of 9 We loved the area it’s beautiful and as a family we had a nice time But would not use this house again Lynn Kelly

Hi Lynn, thanks so much for your feedback. It’s really useful to hear about your experience. We will pass your comments on to the cleaning team as although it’s a busy time of year for them cleanliness is an essential attribute we take seriously. In preparation for your arrival I’m surprised to hear about the lack of towels. We will be taking up all your points with the team immediately. Property Owner

A 2 min drive to a little beach for swimming. Breathtaking views all around. A perfect “get away” holiday home. It has everything you need in the house. The town is an enjoyable 10 minute drive away. We had 3 grandchildren with us. Ages 5, 5 and 6 and they loved every minute. We will return.

Thanks for the feedback. We are always pleased to hear about a positive stay and delighted you and your family enjoyed your time at our house. Very best regards, Rob. Property Owner

  • "The house is beautiful, comfortable, well maintained, it provides everything you need for your stay."

Fiona, the housekeeper was very informative about the area and facilities within the house when I called a few days before as requested. The views from the house are stunning, thankfully the day we arrived the sun was shining which also boosts the views! Fiona had provided milk, with a jar of Skellig jam and a wonderful loaf of whole meal bread. There was also coffee and tea provided, the kitchen has everything you need for cooking meals, we brought groceries with us for the weekend. The narrow road up to the house from the town was for me the only drawback, it’s not far, maybe 10 minutes? There are very few spaces to pull in to let others pass if necessary but thankfully this wasn’t an issue on our trip. As it was just a weekend we weren’t out and about much but it’s something to bear in mind if you’re staying longer and want to travel around more. Communication with both Fiona and Robert the owner via phone and email was very good.

  • "Stunning house, huge and with a lot of character."

Spotless and equipped literally with everything you need. We even found a slow cooker, which we love. The view of the sea and the mountains is priceless. Waking up every morning and enjoy the fresh air of the mountains marvellously mixed with the fresh air coming from the sea is pure heaven. Waterville is very near, with broad choice of restaurants, coffe shops, etc. The host was kind and attentive. Most of all we appreciated the privacy, an important aspect to us when we go on holiday. We knew that the host was available for any need though. The only area of improvement is related to beds, which are a bit small, but other than that everything was simply perfect.

  • "Amazing location, well equipped and comfortable house that has been decorated with care."

We particularly liked the friendly cows in the fields opposite! Beaches to die for. Also an incredible ring fort just up the road. Would benefit from a laminated ‘welcome folder’ explaining how house worked eg. wifi code, disposal of rubbish, recommended beaches & restaurants & tours to nearby islands but this is just a suggestion!

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would’ve loved to have stayed longer."

The house was warm, and comfortable. We had everything we needed in the house for our group of 4 adults and 6 children. Fiona was friendly, helpful and hospitable. There were lots of places not open due to the pandemic, but we found everything we needed in nearby Waterville and Cahersiveen. There were also plenty of beautiful beaches and places to go for walks and drives within a close distance. There are so many nearby restaurants in Waterville, so we look forward to returning and trying them out when they are allowed to reopen.

  • "Perfect for relaxing."

We were 2 families with 4 early 20 year old ‘children’. The house was fabulous in size allowing everyone to have their own space when needed. The kitchen had everything and more that was required, plenty of towels and tea towels. It had 2 fridges, one was under-counter, the other a fridge/freezer. There is another small fridge out in the garage. The cooker is an ‘aga’ style. All bedrooms had either twin or double beds. Two of them - one upstairs and one downstairs have en-suites. The lounge is very comfortable with a tv that has Netflix, and a cd/radio player too. The views are amazing and it is so peaceful yet 5 minutes sees you on the N70, the main road to e.g. Killarney one way or Kenmare the other. Wish I had been able to stay longer.

  • "I am in the travel industry and have traveled a lot in Europe."

The house was very spacious with amazing views - one of the best we've experienced in all of Europe. The only main issue we had was finding it when we first arrived. Directions weren't as clear as they could be. The beds were on the small side (which is what we've encountered everywhere else in Ireland) but we had a comfortable stay. The owner and local housekeeper were quick to respond to our calls and texts. We enjoyed our stay here and were sad to leave! Hope to be back some day.

  • "Everything was perfect!"

I'm not sure why is it listed for 8 adults only as it would be perfectly fine for 10 (there are 10 comfortable beds: 8 double beds, 2 twin of a regular size) or even 12 if needed (two large comfortable couches). But there could be slightly bigger table in the dinning area with more chairs. We loved it, nothing is missing there, communication with the owner was nice and easy, the place is just amazing. I would recommand Carraig Oisin to my best friends!
