A great location to tour the area which is very beautiful. A few notes or maps about the immediate local area would have been nice but there was plenty of information about the wider region.

Thank you to our wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome. The home is beautifully decorated and so comfortable and cosy. Based around 20mins from the local town, you definitely need a car. House is very quiet and isolated, total peace and quiet! Highly recommend this for a great base for exploring! Thank you again for your welcome!!

  • "Dromstabla Cottage is beautiful gem set in a little slice of Irish heaven."

If you are looking for peace and tranquillity after a day exploring the area on foot, by bike or in the car then this is the place for you. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need for self catering, the tv has the basic channels and there are small amount of DVDs (or you could always take a few of your own). The lounge has the most comfortable sofa to relax on and the bedrooms are comfortable with decent light blocking blinds. A welcome package with bread, milk, tea, coffee and sugar was provided for us and the fresh flowers were a lovely homely touch and we also received a lovely gift as I had mentioned we had married a couple of weeks prior to our holiday and although we didn't get to meet Mairead and Vincent, they contacted us to make sure we arrived safely and everything was ok, and again after we left to make sure we had arrived home safely. The nearest towns are Killorglin (about 20 mins drive) and Killarney (40 mins drive) both have supermarkets and lots of places to eat. Killarney I would say is more geared toward tourists but has a great cinema. Kells House and the Kerry Cliffs are a must see - perhaps a boat trip round Skelling Michael for the more adventurous. Also, would highly recommend Dingle Sea Safari as a great way to sea the coastline from a different perspective, with the added bonus of seeing the seals on Great Blasket Island and the pods of dolphins in North Atlantic, maybe even a whale or 2! We never tired of the breathtaking views returning from our daily trips out and hope to return in the future.

The place is well located in the heart of kerry for easy travel to all the places to visit. The house is very nice. The enclosure with the sheep and the view of the mountains of Kerry is magnificent. Thanks to Vincent for his simple and warm welcome as well as the cakes and chocolate eggs (Easter obliges) on arrival. I highly recommend this rental.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Dromstabla cottage."

The cottage was immaculately presented. As a parent, I really appreciated the black out blinds! Something I know that other parents would be happy with too. There was tv, WiFi, washing machine, ironing board, clothes horse for your washing, etc. Mairead really has thought of everything. We loved the added touch of toys, games and books. One of our sons has ASD and he was so settled with beautiful scenery and open, safe, gated space around the house we could relax knowing nothing could happen. Mairead also left a very thoughtful welcome package for us on our arrival, and went out of her way to return items to me that I had left behind. Killorglin is just a 10 minute drive away and it’s a central location to see lots of the beauty Kerry has to offer.

Warm, comfortable, all mod cons and spotlessly clean. Surrounded by breath-taking landscape and central to nearby villages, beaches, mountains and forests. Dog friendly which is a bonus. The owners, Mairead and Vincent, are a pleasure to deal with and were kind enough to have available tea, milk, butter and soda bread upon arrival. A pleasure! Freda

We had a great time in Dromstabla cottage it was spotless clean and very comfortable with beautiful scenery all around you it is a very remote cottage but we loved that it was. If you use the postcode it will bring you right to the door. Our only issue was that we never got to meet Vincent or Mairéad maybe next time. We headed out every day to explore Kerry and we got to see and do so much. We would definitely recommend Dromstabla cottage to all our friends and family.

  • "The location was lovely and quiet and just what we wanted."

The house had everything that we needed for our stay and Vincent checked with us just after our arrival to see if everything was ok and we said the only think we would have liked was a barbecue as the weather was lovely and the next day when we came back from a day at the beach there was a lovely gas barbecue waiting for us. The decor is lovely and bright and the house layout is just perfect with the 3 bathrooms for a family stay. I would highly recommend this property and I am sure we will return again. The cows in the field around the house are nice to see first thing in the morning when you look out the window and I never once heard them making noise early in the morning. Finally the friendly fox that came to visit us every day was a real treat and not just for the kids as us adults loved to see her call and eat the food we left out for her and she would look in the patio door at us and then fill her mouth with food and bring it back to the Cubs. We loved our stay.

Sat nav got us right to the gate. You can just see the door from the gateway - up the short tree-lined driveway, which I loved. Owner Vincent very nice - very helpful. Blessed with good weather. Our neighbours - the cows - a joy to behold in the morning - very restful scenario. Visited Killorglin, Glenbeigh, Killarney, Ross Castle, Gap of Dunloe, the Black Valley, etc. Really enjoyed our stay - a tonic in these difficult times.

Hi as u posted directions to the cottage bear in mind that not all persons are familiar with areas they are going to so it would help if say turn left at the hikers rest pub and follow the road to your location ie land marks would be a very good so visitors would know well we are not far from here , also I have noted from past experience that owners fail to have a sign on the property and that is very important the local postman would know and only that u would take a photo of the property with you to identify the house u could be going around in circles

The cottage was warm and comfortable and we enjoyed our week there very much. The owners took the trouble to call round and check we were happy and would have made every effort to sort out any problems for us should there have been any. More directions to the property would have been useful as the Eire code did not work in our satnav and Glencar is quite spread out.

  • "Wonderful, family-friendly hideaway in Kerry."

The hosts had decorated the cottage for Christmas which was a lovely touch. The cottage has been recently renovated and nicely finished. Outside, the cottage is located along a short drive with a gate and is enclosed by a fence making it perfect for kids and pets. The surrounding fields make it quiet and secluded. Killorglin, the nearest town, is a 20 minute drive away so a car is essential. The nearby Climbers’ Rest pub has a small post office and shop and is a 5 minute drive. The cottage is near some lovely walks, including the nearby Lickeen Woods which is a five minute drive away. The cottage is also a good starting point for Killarney National Park, Rosbeigh and other Kerry destination.

  • "The cottage looked great in the photos, and was just as good in real life."

We had a great stay there. The owners have recently refurbished it, and included some photos in the welcome information that showed just how much they had done. The cottage was spacious and warm, easy to find using the Eircode, and was a perfect base for us to explore Kerry. There was nothing that we missed from home, everything was provided, including dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc. all very thoughtful. Bread, butter and milk on arrival was very helpful after a long drive. Flowers in vases was a lovely touch, felt very home-from-home. Great views of the mountains (when the cloud had cleared). Note that this cottage has three shower/WC rooms, two of which are en-suite. We really couldn't fault it. Owners were local, and popped by to make sure everything was ok. Would very much recommend this cottage as a place to stay, and was well worth our 16hours of travel to get there from the very east of England.

  • "The cottage we booked was great in every respect, we are extremely satisfied with our stay and would recommend the cottage to other people."

We would however not recommend Sykes Cottages or, more specifically, booking with Sykes Cottages: The process was laborious, we had to confirm our identity and our intention of booking the cottage multiple times despite having indicated all necessary information via booking.com. We were asked multiple times to call the agency (we didn't want to do that because it's terribly expensive from Switzerland and we already had given the agency all information they needed). We were really happy when we could finally contact the hosts directly. So we would definitely recommend the cottage/hosts, but not the agency.

We apologise that you have found the process so difficult with Sykes, we are continuously working to improve the process of booking with us and are finding that providing fuller coverage of properties in the UK by using sister companies provides difficulties but feedback is integral to the process of finding these faults. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our customer services department, we are open 7 days a week, 9-7pm. Property Owner

Wonderful views and great drives. we had thought Glencar was a village, but it wasn't, luckily we had brought lots of food etc with us. 12 miles or so to Killorglin if you need a supermarket/shop. We soon got used to it! Cottage has a good sized fridge and freezer, ( not always the case in many other properties) so stocking up was easy. We loved this cottage and were blessed with fantastic weather....in November! The washing machine was good, but a tumble dryer would be needed, especially in poor weather and muddy children's/adults clothes after walks/cycles etc. There is an airing cupboard, which helps a little.
