  • "A lovely cottage, very warm and comfortable."

Plenty of parking space. Lots of kitchen equipment if you want to cook your meals.

  • "Very disappointed in this house."

As an estate agent once said to me, "You don't get two chances to make a first impression. " Your very first photograph is misleading. Rather than a bright sparkling house with lots of colourful baskets and boxes you see a sad shabby house with no colour whatsoever. Round the back is the same. The windows were filthy, the small patch of grass looked like it had not been cut in many months, though this was rectified on the Monday. The garden furniture is old, rusty and dirty. (It looks bad in your picture but much worse now.) These observations were made before we even got out of the car. Inside there was much of the same. A main light bulb was missing, the TV in the living area did not work, a toilet seat was cracked. Cleanliness was good though again a lot of paintwork and dampness damage needs attention. One particular point was very annoying. Where you show in the pictures and in the script that there are two large double beds, the larger room, and far the nicest part of the house, now has two single beds. This means that that room was unusable for us. There are more matters I could point out but this quite enough. Needless to say we will not be going near this place again, and suggest that Sykes do some vetting of the places they manage. We wish we could have had a much better experience, but unfortunately we were misled. Michael Healy and Jean Duncan

Spacious accomodation, really comfortable beds. Both generous bedrooms had their own ensuite with bath & seperate shower. TVs in both bedrooms & main dinner. Kitchen was open plan dining kichen area. Loads of space with a really well equipped kitchen. Dishwasher, microwave, washer & dryer, & hair dressers all the mod cons available. The plus you can bring your dog!. Amazing forest walks on door steps. Nice village steps away with a lovely coffee shop the aulde bank & a dog friendly pub with yummy food, O Neills bar. Derry is 40 mins away & really worth the trip. Great base for touring ghe Gortin forest & lakes. Welcome scones on arrival what more can I say. The whole family really enjoyed the trip. Thank you. • "I have been booking holidays with Sykes now for several years and this has got to be definitely the biggest property I have stayed in."

It had everything we needed and more, the kitchen equipment provided was also beyond what we expected. The property is dog friendly, which is why we booked, with a bowl and blanket provided which was extremely thoughtful. A minor issue, the blue bedroom was twin beds and not the king size expected. Both bathrooms had a bath and separate shower. Amazing property, great location for exploring the area, highly recommended.

  • "A lovely week at the Old School."

A home from home. Cosy, welcoming and spacious. It had everything we needed and was a great base for catching up with family and exploring the local area. Lovely welcome biscuits went down a treat with the little one and a plentiful supply of sticks for the fire was excellent and provided many cosy nights in front of the fire. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

Lovely to stay in such an historic building but with up to date facilities. Loved the comfy bed, powerful shower and plentiful supply of logs for the wood burner. Such a beautiful setting too. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

  • "Lovely spacious cottage with two enormous bedrooms."

Great place to relax in front of the log burner. Good amenities locally with plenty of places to eat and drink in the village, and not far to drive to the local town with supermarkets etc. The cottage is also dog friendly, with bowls and blankets left for them. Our dog enjoyed the patch of grass and space in the yard to run around (please note it isn't enclosed, but we managed to block off the driveway entrance with our car and the wheelie bins so we were happy that he wasn't going to escape). Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "Fantastic cottage, great showers and enjoyed soak in baths after long walks(both ensuite have a bath)very comfy beds."

Daughter and grandson appreciated the twin beds (2 doubles stated in listing). Friendly owner who invited us to walk through his estate, friendly horses and cows! Great base for hopping across to Donegal and doggy walks galore at Gortin forest.Outside space is not enclosed so close supervision of children and pets required, a gate would be the icing on the cake . Lots of friendly folk in village, cafe and bar/restaurant a few steps from cottage , excellent food and service, local shop everything you could need at super prices! Brilliant holiday and Sykes website makes booking very simple especially being able to see availability for each month.

Hello Deirdre We are glad you enjoyed your stay. One of our bedrooms can be adjusted for a twin or large double, so I'm glad the twin suited your stay. We will consider your suggestion of a gate, thank you for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "This property was chosen on the disability facilities that it offered."

Unfortunately we were only advised that the wet room shower was out of order as we arrived by the cleaner. This therefore caused bathing for our disabled member of our party very difficult as we then had to go and purchase a plastic chair to use in the other bathroom. In hindsight we could have brought our disability shower stool with us from home but only if we had been informed of this prior to travelling. This was unfortunate to cast a shadow over our stay , such a shame as the property itself was beautiful and well equipped otherwise. I do however feel that anyone that has booked this property should be made aware of any disability facilities that are out of order or unavailable prior to the date of arrival.

Beautiful homemade scones and jam awaiting our arrival. The owner stopped by to check if we had everything we needed. Situated at the top of the Main Street, so walking distance to everything in the village. We found the locals very welcoming and pleasant. Such beautiful scenery to explore nearby. We are already planning a return visit.

Even though we live in Northern Ireland we aren't familiar with Western Tyrone but were impressed by the natural beauty. Its a great spot to get away for a peaceful holiday with lots of lovely walks. The cottage is very dog friendly with the wooden floors and a large hallway to keep walking boots and dog towels.

Converted from a school house this spacious property boasts bags of character and charm, offering a delightful base for exploring the rolling countryside setting of Northern Ireland.

The interior of the property enjoys a seamless blend of contemporary styling which is complemented by the characterful high ceilings, the exposed beams and the sash windows.

Spend your wind down time within the open-plan living room, where you will be delighted to find everything you could possibly need.

The exposed beams frame the well-equipped kitchen, which invites the designated chef of the group to whip up a delicious home-cooked meal before your loved ones settle down at the dining table to catch up on the day’s events.

After dinner, look forward to sinking into the sofa, lighting up the fire and tuning into the TV or relax with a good book in-hand before you head to bed.

As the evening draws to a close, retire to the evening’s embrace within one of the bedrooms, each boasting a plush super-king-size bed, a refreshing ambience and their very own en-suites.

As you wake up during a summer’s morning, head to the garden where you can enjoy your morning coffee whilst soaking up the rural surroundings and your four-legged friend roams the lawn before heading out for the day.

If you don’t feel like cooking one evening, a short walk will bring you to the centre of Gortin where you will find a choice of bars, a takeaway and a number of shops for picking up the essentials.

Whilst here, venture to Gortin Glen Forest Park where you will find a magnitude of walking opportunities with breath-taking scenery, as well as mountain biking in a specified part of the forest.

For those feeling more active, look forward to a hefty hike up the Sperrin hills boasting a wild remoteness and plenty of history to discover along the way to the peak, an area also popular for horse riding, mountain biking and parachuting.
