  • "This is a delightful renovated and extended traditional cottage."

It is very remote, which is exactly what we were looking for. The property owner was kind and very helpful, with great recommendations for an evening meal in Glenties and a remote pub with trad sessions. We were very happy with all aspects of the accommodation and grateful for acceptance of my adult Irish Wolfhound as a guest. My only suggestion (not a criticism) to the owner would be to perhaps have a written document explaining the system for getting hot water in the 2 showerheads in the bathroom. Once the system was explained, we could understand the reasons we did not have hot water each day. For people looking for accommodation well off the beaten track, I recommend Carnaween View highly.

  • "I just loved staying at the cottage, it had everything in it that u would need to have a comfortable stay."

Remote but beautiful! Using the country road up to the lane that takes you to the cottage is very narrow, but as Paddy told us, never reverse if u meet another vehicle, locals understand and will reverse for u. If your into hiking /walking great for that, so many different walks that go on forever. A great base for other places to visit in the surrounding area. And Paddy the owner is a great host. I highly recommend a stay here.

  • "Great holiday, cottage exactly what we hoped for, remote and very quiet."

The dogs loved the open spaces. Paddy was a great character and host. We would recommend it to anyone looking for peace and quiet, great walks on the hills straight from the cottage. The wood burning stove kept the cottage warm and cosy.

I really enjoy my holiday here with the dog, weather was pretty good and lots of places to explore. Cottage was lovely, warm and cosy and everything you need. Unfortunately I had to cut my holiday short as I needed to see my dentist as had an abscess on my gum. Will definitely be back. Thanks Paddy!

  • "The location of this beautiful cottage is heaven on earth."

It's home away from home, we found it hard to leave. Paddy was a very kind gentleman, we had plenty of firewood, the cottage was spotless, lots of hot water, no neighbors for miles, just the sound of the babbling water from the mountains and the wind whistling in the trees.

  • "This cottage is a wonderful place, far away from everything else, to relax !"

Yet, it is near enough for all activities like hiking and sightseeing in the area of western Donegal. It is well equipped, with everything you need. Everything was clean, functional and we had also the possibility to have a good internet access after contacting the owner. The Owner, Paddy, is a very friendly host, who really takes care of you and your needs, without beeing obtrusive in any way! We had a lot of very interesting talks with him, and he can be very proud of this place he has so wonderfully rebuild and renovated. We heartily recommend this cottage and will definitely return some day. Monika und Matthias

About the location

GLENTIES, COUNTY DONEGAL

Donegal Town 17 miles; Letterkenny 27 miles.

The picturesque town of Glenties meaning ‘The Glens’ is located in the heart of the Donegal Highlands, at the meeting point of the two glens of the Owenea and Stranaglough rivers on the northwest edge of the Bluestack Mountains. The two rivers, particularly the Owenea are well known for their salmon fishing. Although a small town, Glenties offers seven pubs, four general and grocery shops and three takeaways in its busy main street. Glenties is a five times winner of Ireland’s tidiest town and has won the Entente Florale Europe Competition. The area offers visitors many opportunities to hill-walk in the Bluestack Mountains and enjoy the scenery of the Bluestack Way, as well as the chance to explore the many other glens, mountains, dozens of lakes, and the rugged Atlantic coast with its sweeping bays and wide clean beaches. Other attractions include several archaeological remains, such as an ancient ring fort on an island in nearby Lough Doon, tremendous views everywhere you look, and the Finntown narrow gauge scenic railway, which runs alongside the two mile long Lough Finn. There are frequent local festivals and events in Glenties, and nearby towns, such as an annual Harvest Fair, plus live music can be enjoyed in pubs most nights, and golfers will appreciate the challenging links course at nearby Portnoo. The Glenties area is perfect for hill-walkers, hikers, bikers and tourists who wish to explore this varied, wild and rugged part of North West Ireland.
