  • "We had a great stay house had everything we needed."

Check in was easy and we didn't see anyone for week. Just note you need to do a shop before you get there the village glenties and Ardaragh are convenient but a good shop you need to go to Dungloe for Aldi.

  • "We enjoyed a very pleasant stay here."

The cottage is along a quiet track which sees very little traffic. There are fabulous views across open countryside, particularly from the kitchen/diner. The master bed was very comfortable and it was useful having the cloakroom in addition to the full bathroom. We spent most of our time in the large kitchen/diner with big TV, comfy sofa, very well kitted out kitchen with a huge range. Highly recommended.

  • "Great property in a quiet scenic location."

Clean and well appointed. If you think you've forgotten something, the chances are it is already provided. The welcome items were a nice touch. Overall excellent, we would book again.

  • "Excellent cottage."

Everything was fresh and clean on arrival. The cottage has everything you need for a pleasant stay - the kitchen in particular had all the everyday essentials that many other cottage’s forget about: oil, salt, lots of tea and coffee options, fresh milk on arrival etc. Would highly recommend and will most likely return for a second holiday at some point.

Thank you for your kind review. It is very much appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you at Ard na Gréine again. Many thanks. Property Owner

  • "I had a beautiful stay at the cottage."

It was spacious and clean and wonderfully appointed. We didn’t really cook but the kitchen is particularly lovely. The views were stunning and the whole vibe is perfect if you’re a nature lover who enjoys a bit of luxury, too. Thanks for making me feel so welcome, I definitely hope to return some day!

  • "An excellent property, beautiful setting surrounded by countryside, very peaceful and stunning views."

Ideally situated for touring round Donegal. The cottage was very clean and the rooms were nicely decorated and furnished. The kitchen was amply equipped, the bathroom was very spacious and the beds were comfy. If I had any complaint it was that the sofas in the kitchen area were low and my mother found it difficult to get out of them, but we used a couple of cushions to adjust the height and all was good. Would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "This cottage provided an excellent base for us to explore the beautiful SW Donegal area."

Well appointed and had everything we needed for cooking, storage and relaxing. Nice selection of outside tables and chairs but unfortunately the weather in October didn’t let us make use of them. Great view of sunsets in the distance and very quiet location. Short drive to both Glenties and Ardara.

  • "The house was perfect."

Exceptionally clean, super comfortable with all the appliances you could need. The beds were extremely comfortable. A basket of fresh scones, jams and biscuits on arrival was a wonderful touch. Lots of information about the area. The owner was very nice to deal with.

  • "Fabulous cottage a little off the beaten track."

The owners went the extra mile, there was a lovely welcome basket with homemade scones and jam. They'd also prepared a guide to the cottage and the surrounding area, local attractions etc. Communication was excellent. I can highly recommend a stay at Ard na Gréine.

About the location

GLENTIES, COUNTY DONEGAL

Donegal Town 17 miles; Letterkenny 27 miles.

The picturesque town of Glenties meaning ‘The Glens’ is located in the heart of the Donegal Highlands, at the meeting point of the two glens of the Owenea and Stranaglough rivers on the northwest edge of the Bluestack Mountains. The two rivers, particularly the Owenea are well known for their salmon fishing. Although a small town, Glenties offers seven pubs, four general and grocery shops and three takeaways in its busy main street. Glenties is a five times winner of Ireland’s tidiest town and has won the Entente Florale Europe Competition. The area offers visitors many opportunities to hill-walk in the Bluestack Mountains and enjoy the scenery of the Bluestack Way, as well as the chance to explore the many other glens, mountains, dozens of lakes, and the rugged Atlantic coast with its sweeping bays and wide clean beaches. Other attractions include several archaeological remains, such as an ancient ring fort on an island in nearby Lough Doon, tremendous views everywhere you look, and the Finntown narrow gauge scenic railway, which runs alongside the two mile long Lough Finn. There are frequent local festivals and events in Glenties, and nearby towns, such as an annual Harvest Fair, plus live music can be enjoyed in pubs most nights, and golfers will appreciate the challenging links course at nearby Portnoo. The Glenties area is perfect for hill-walkers, hikers, bikers and tourists who wish to explore this varied, wild and rugged part of North West Ireland.
