  • "Excellent property."

The owners are amazing...very friendly, interesting, caring and totally professional. They make one feel very welcome. The cottage is located in very peaceful surroundings with delightful fields of frolicking lambs adjacent. Hearing the cuckoo was an added bonus! The cottage is so well laid out for a wheelchair user...without seeming in any way clinical. The owners' good taste in respecting vernacular architecture and in fitting out the cottage so tastefully is to be admired. It was hard to leave such comfort and welcome! And Bella the golden retriever visited us for a few treats!!

  • "Very friendly helpful and generous owners."

We particularly appreciated the gift of honey from their own bees. Nice welcome and check in on arrival. Quiet area with town nearby. You do need to be prepared to travel by car but plenty of beautiful places to visit nearby.

The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. The owners were extremely welcoming and gave us some useful tips for places to visit. The location was ideal for exploring the area. Bella the pet dog was gorgeous and often welcomed us back at the end of the day. An added bonus was the beautiful weather.

The accommodation was amazing the owners couldn’t do enough for you - in so far as offering to be our taxi driver whenever we needed them, the only surprise to the listing is the close proximity of the main house to the bungalow but once you are in the accommodation you quickly realise the bungalow could be in the middle of a field because you are never disturbed yet still have help on hand - the owners dog is so placid and friendly and loves a visit which is adorable - couldn’t recommend the accommodation highly enough and can’t wait for our next visit xxx

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Riverside cottage."

Beautiful surrounding, great place to use as a base to explore Donegal. The cottage was very pleasant, everything we needed was available. The only small point of improvement we can think of: we couldn’t find a handy wall outlet for the coffee machine.

  • "We had a fantastic stay!"

The cottage is truly stunning, it is so well equipped with everything you could need, it was so comfortable, warm and relaxing! Our kids (5&3) loved the garden and tree house which had toys for them to play with. The lovely hosts even left Easter eggs for the kids in the tree house on Easter Sunday! Couldn’t recommend the Riverside Cottage enough, top class accommodation! Thanks, hopefully we’ll be back soon :)

Thank you so very much for staying with us . We are so glad you enjoyed your stay .Next time you come we will make sure the " astronauts " will have fresh honey for the kids .xx Property Owner

About the location

GLENTIES, COUNTY DONEGAL

Donegal Town 17 miles; Letterkenny 27 miles.

The picturesque town of Glenties meaning ‘The Glens’ is located in the heart of the Donegal Highlands, at the meeting point of the two glens of the Owenea and Stranaglough rivers on the northwest edge of the Bluestack Mountains. The two rivers, particularly the Owenea are well known for their salmon fishing. Although a small town, Glenties offers seven pubs, four general and grocery shops and three takeaways in its busy main street. Glenties is a five times winner of Ireland’s tidiest town and has won the Entente Florale Europe Competition. The area offers visitors many opportunities to hill-walk in the Bluestack Mountains and enjoy the scenery of the Bluestack Way, as well as the chance to explore the many other glens, mountains, dozens of lakes, and the rugged Atlantic coast with its sweeping bays and wide clean beaches. Other attractions include several archaeological remains, such as an ancient ring fort on an island in nearby Lough Doon, tremendous views everywhere you look, and the Finntown narrow gauge scenic railway, which runs alongside the two mile long Lough Finn. There are frequent local festivals and events in Glenties, and nearby towns, such as an annual Harvest Fair, plus live music can be enjoyed in pubs most nights, and golfers will appreciate the challenging links course at nearby Portnoo. The Glenties area is perfect for hill-walkers, hikers, bikers and tourists who wish to explore this varied, wild and rugged part of North West Ireland.
