  • "We have stayed in a lot of Donegal holiday cottages and this was the first where we thought "We'd love to live in a cottage like this."

". It achieves that perfect blend of modern comfort and cleanliness mixed with old cottage features and charm. Location is great for exploring that corner of Donegal too.

  • "We had a wonderful week here."

The cottage is amazing, beautiful location in between two beaches. Eilis is a wonderful host and left a lovely bag of scones and cake from the local cake shop. There are a few negative reviews from some years back, ignore them, this is a great place to hide away beside a cosy fire. We have already booked to go back again.

Super comfy beds, very clean, great facilities, friendly owners. Garden is not enclosed for the dogs so you always have to watch them, but this was not a problem for us as we were outside most of the time enjoying the views & good weather. We would definitely stay again.

Everything had been thought about so it was like a home from home with plenty of kitchen equipment etc. It had absolutely everything we needed for our weeks stay. The owners were very quick to respond to any queries we had. The short walk to Carric Fergus beach made for perfect evening strolls.

  • "Beautiful cottage has everything you need very clean and comfortable."

Sofas are small for 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. Garden isn’t completely enclosed would recommend your dog has good recall and is friendly as there are other dogs that pass by the cottage one is very friendly one likes to bark a lot at your dog and you. Beach is literally 5 to 10 mins down the lane there is a barbwire fence to block off the lane but we just moved it and walked through think it’s just there as it’s a private lane. We drove to the beach by the Gaelic pitches which is 5 minutes in the car has a lovely walking trail. The shops are a good ten minute drive away if you need anything. The owners are lovely didn’t bother us at all but were only a text away if we needed them. Limited tv channels and signal isn’t the greatest on your phone so make sure you bring plenty to occupy yourselves and kids. Overall we had a lovely time and the dog loved his best life.

  • "The cottage was fabulous but a bit creaky/noisy when it was windy."

Would be great if there were more tv stations especially when the weather can be a bit hit and miss. That said it’s a lovely relaxing, picturesque place and we loved it. A bit remote if you’re the type of family that’s looking for more. Beaches and tracking areas just stunning and lovely places for runs if you’re a runner.

  • "Pictures on website did not do the cottage which was really lovely, justice."

Only negatives were that the electric kettle although working, was leaky...nothing major and the walkway to beach was blocked off with barbed wire fencing at the entrance to beach. This presumably is outside of the cottage owner's control.

  • "Ramharc na nOilean was a fantastic property with all the mod cons and an amazing location within walking distance of beautiful Carrickfinn Beach."

Eilis and her family welcomed us and gave us advice and help whenever we needed it - particularly when their daughter N. babysat our dog so we could go on a guided kayaking trip to Owey Island. The property has everything a family needs, from fuel for the stove to a washer/dryer and 3 comfortable bedrooms. Eilis saw to it on our first day that the clothesline was repaired and promised to fix the dishwasher door that jams. Notable daytrips from the property: kayaking with Selkie Sailing, fishing trip with Paul with Saoire Mara Charters, hiking to Loch Inshagh in the Glenveagh National Park, amazing sunsets from the headland at Cruit Island Golf Club, Carrickfinn Beach and my favorite - Mullaghderg Beach. This is a great location for a family getaway - you will not be disappointed!

  • "Patrick was a great host."

The cottage is within walking distance of the beach which is just behind Donegal Airport. There is no noise whatsoever from the airport and you would not realise it was there unless you noticed the occasional aeroplane landing in what appears to be a sand dune. The beach is absolutely stunning. We stayed at the cottage at Easter time and found only a handful of people on the beaches. The cottage is furnished with a basic fit out but is comfortable and clean. If you are looking for a quiet escape with beautiful beaches, I would highly recommend this cottage.

Very quite area even Donegal Airport is about 500m away (on weekdays 3 planes comin in/getting out) we recognize them once! So nothing to talk about. Carrick Finn Beach is down the road and a nice place to walk and relax but aware the tides!! We loved it to sit in the Dining room, sipping a coffee, playing cards and listen to the radio. Perfect if you're looking for a place to calm down. We absolutely would rent it again! Thanx a lot!!
