  • "A fabulous house in a beautiful location."

So many extra special touches made this one of the best houses we’d ever stayed in. Irene was a great host. Lots of lovely walks straight from the door for young and old alike to enjoy. Even braved an October dip in the sea. And to top it all…great craic in The Strand Bar.

  • "The house is beautiful and the views from it are spectacular."

There is every utensil in the kitchen to cook from home. The house is a 5 minute walk to a beautiful, clean beach and another 5 minutes to the little village pub which is an absolute must to visit. Irene, who looks after the house, is super helpful, nothing is too much bother for her and is at the end of the phone for anything. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

The house itself, the stunning ocean view from combined kitchen / living- / dining room and the handling of all organisational matters with the housekeeper Irene. We enjoyed every minute and hope to come back one day.

  • "Maghery is a beautiful part of Ireland the views of the sea are spectacular."

We were disappointed we stayed in February the underfloor heating did not function leaving a family of 5 living in one room. Anyone staying in the winter months needs to confirm prior to setting off the heating is working turned on and has been on for at least a week prior to arrival to let the house come to a living temperature.

Hi Lucinda I am sorry this has happened during your stay you arrived on Sunday and the plumber was out on Monday unfortunately you did not contact Irene the whole week you were there to say the heating had not come on. If you had the plumber would have been out straight away to resolve the issue. We encourage all our guests to contact Irene if there are any issues with the house etc We cannot resolve any issues if you fail to report them to our housekeeper it is very unfortunate you did not contact Irene Property Owner

4mies from dungloe and all pubs and restaurants. Very quiet with only sound of the waves crashing on shore. Picnic table on deck is a great new addition from last year, but needs a parasol for sunny days. All in all agreat place to unwind and relax.

  • "We had a wonderful holiday in this gorgeous family home."

Irene was always available and was incredibly helpful in suggesting places to eat/ places to go etc. The house was immaculately clean and a new suite of furniture arrived during our stay. Would love to go back with our grandchildren The beach is a short walk away, not as close as I thought from the pics on the website but the views from the house are breathtaking.

  • "We enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Sail House."

Our only criticism probably relates to it being early in the season. However, the house lacked quality cooking pans and several things were not functional (the TV upstairs and the lamp in the downstairs living area). That said, we are likely to return to Sail House in the future.

  • "We chose location of house to sea, amazing pictures on page and we were so disappointed at the cleanliness, broken utensils, ripped and tatty furniture."

The house could do with a makeover at the price they charged, even the garden was unusable, we didn't use lounge upstairs due to remote missing (owner left note in book reference this). Cows with calfs freely grazing in garden. Tried to call Irene but wouldn't connect. A great shame for my family

  • "We all loved the property and the location."

The living area and the fire for the evening were splendid. The only difficulty we had on first 2 days was no hot water. A phone call revealed this had simply not been switched on and thereafter the problem was resolved. We are a group of 4 older women and the mattresses downstairs, specifically the single beds are far too thin and difficult to find comfort on. Probably fine for children. All in all we loved the house and the space it offered us and had a great stay.

  • "Beautiful house!"

Had the most enjoyable stay. Would book again in a heartbeat. Facilities were great and the owner even had coffee, tea etc available. Views were stunning especially with the large windows in the living area. The wood-burning stove was the cherry on top! The only issue I had was that the telephone number provided wouldn’t connect from Northern Ireland, so this could be updated to enable contact about key collection prior to stay.

  • "We loved the house however we picked the location due to its proximity to the the beach and local water sports."

We have 4 teenagers and we had promised them water sports, kayaking, surfing etc. We tried to book several times prior to our arrival and to no avail. When we arrived we rang Maghery coaster adventures again eventually got through and they told they might bring us out. But we heard nothing back, very frustrating! We eventually drove 1 hour to Dunfanaghy for water sports!

  • "A lovely cottage with stunning views in a great location."

We had a great time overall. House very well provisioned. A couple of well meaning comments; house was clean but needed a good general deep clean, behind beds, under armchairs, stairs, light fittings . The front downstairs bedroom is rather gloomy.. bright / white bedding would help as would a new mattress on the double bed. Directions to cottage completely inaccurate..cottage is in Maghery, turn right at strand bar ( coming from Dungloe. Very small Single lane track... follow for 1-2 km past the famine walls.. left into Cul de sac ( sign posted).

The beds are really comfy and the rest of the house is very well equipped, especially the kitchen a fabulous place to cook in and enjoy your meals. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this stunning house, it is a very warm and welcoming place to stay. Our lovely host Irene, was very kind and helpful about the area and where to visit and eat. We fell in love with this house and look forward to our next visit.
