  • "Once again we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kate's Cottage beautiful Co Donegal, on arrival we were met by the owner Tara who gave us a lovely greeting."

The property was as expected, clean, comfortable with everything we could require and the perfect location in a quiet countryside position overlooking Lough Swilly, a couple of minute drive into Rathmullan. I fully recommend this fantastic property for anyone looking for somewhere to stay. We will certainly be returning for a 3rd stay, and that is a testament as I don't usually stay at the same place twice. Many Thanks to you at Hogan's with special thanks to Tara for the great place you have, we hope to see you again soon. Steve & Denise Kendal, Cumbria. UK.

On arrival Tara was there to meet us & she was so lovely! She took us round to explain about a few things & really hospitable to us. The house was just beautiful & so lovely & warm too. The cleanliness of the house was second to none! A very big thing for us having had a terrible experience last time in Ireland, so this a huge thing for us! Not a bit of dust or dirt anywhere. Location is stunning. Gorgeous beaches just around the corner & the views from the house just beautiful. This place is perfect in every way & we'll definitely be booking again next time we visit.

Lovely peaceful location a short drive to the village of Rathmullan where there are a few pubs / restaurants to catch a bite to eat and a drink.Nice enclosed and secure garden for the dog was an added bonus, and he was able to spend long periods outside each day coming and going as he pleased. We visited in October 2019 and the weather was pretty good, and we’d like to visit the area again in the summer 2021 and will 100% definitely consider using Kate’s Cottage again.

It took us around 2 hours to drive too from Larne port but the scenery on the way is breath-taking. So much so it doesn’t feel like 2 hours! Upon arrival we were greeted by Tara the lovely lady who owns the property and sister lives next door. Nothing was too much trouble and we were shown all the facilities within the cottage. The cottage itself is very spacious with beautiful views and nice big rooms which are all decorated lovely. The living room was very comfortable and having a real fire was a real treat in the evenings when we played games after dinner with the children. A 5 min drive from the cottage is the village of Rathmullan which has a few restaurants and pubs which are reasonably priced and show football. Beachcomber was our favourite. We enjoyed this holiday so much we have already reserved the cottage for next year but this time for 2 weeks! The girls can’t wait and neither can we.

About the location

Letterkenny 15 miles.

Nestled on the shore of Lough Swilly on the Fanad Peninsula, the quaint village of Rathmullan has a colourful history. It was from here that the last of the Celtic chieftains fled Ireland, now known as the Flight of the Earls, and there is an interesting heritage centre in the village commemorating this vital event in Ireland’s history. This sleepy seaside village offers a variety of local shops and pubs and a long sandy beach ideal for lazy days. The Fanad Peninsula is a haven for walkers, hikers and nature enthusiasts, and boasts a stunning coastline. The summer ferry crosses Lough Swilly to Buncrana, opening up Inishowen and beyond, and it’s only a short distance to the town of Letterkenny.
