  • "It was a beautiful cottage, incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay."

We struggled to find it a bit as it was getting dark and we approached from a different direction to the instructions so perhaps some additional instructions would be good? Or a sign for Carol Cottage at the end of the approach road? The cottage is beautiful, the views are stunning, we loved it there

This is our second stay here and that in itself gives an indication as to how we rate this property. Would highly recommend.

  • "Carol Cottage is a hidden gem."

A lovely home from home in a beautiful part of the world. A short journey and you're in the Mourne mountains. Close to Kilkeel with its amenities to stock up on groceries there is literally something to do every day with reach. If you're looking for a base to go a bit further either up to Belfast or down to Dublin then this is the place to stay. The donkey's in the neighbouring field and local duck on the lane make it a special place. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

  • "The hing on the bedroom window was broke and the handle on the livening window"

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we would kindly request that guests notify us of any such issues DURING their stay so that we can resolve them at the time. On inspection, one of the window handles in the living room can indeed be detached but it does not detract from the functioning mechanism. However, it will be replaced immediately. Both bedroom windows have been checked and are working as they should be and as described in the instruction manual: a quarter turn of the handle only opens the upper part of the window. A half turn of the handle opens up the window as if opening a door and is intended as a fire escape (as per Building Control Regulation requirements). Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage with wonderful views."

Comfortably decorated. Very clean. Great rural feel (esp with the neighbours ducks and geese!), even though town is only 5min drive away and has an asda, eurospar, takeaways etc. Would definitely recommend. My kids loved it!

Great to hear, glad the kids had a good time! Property Owner

Beautiful views and quiet and peaceful location. We were very happy that we could take our dog with us as the cottage is pet friendly. There are many modern facilities in cottage and we had everything we needed. I would recommend this place and hope we will be back next year

  • "Carol Cottage was absolutely delightful, the view from the sun room was lovely - the Mournes and the sea."

My three-year old granddaughter loved playing on her scooter in the courtyard, and the older ones made good use of the games room. The ducks in the lane (owned by the cottage next door), the sheep across the road and the donkeys in the field behind the cottage were a bonus! I would recommend Carol Cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful escape for a few days, or longer, the cottage had everything we could possibly need and was more than comfortable.

Thanks you for the kind review, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "We spent a wonderful week at Carol Cottage, which we thoroughly enjoyed."

The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable, and clean. The beds are comfortable, there is great fibre internet and smart TV in the lounge, and the sunroom and patio really make the place perfect for relaxing in. And there was even a small food / water bowl for the dog in the kitchen. The heating works very well as there were a few cool nights. There was a great communication with the owners of the cottage, and the instructions to the cottage were easy to follow and comprehensible. The location is amazing with great views of Carlingford Lough and Slieve Foye. We were delighted by our neighbours - a flock of sheep, 3 donkeys, and some chatty ducks. There are fantastic walking and hiking paths, and we can also recommend local honey from the neighbouring cottage, as well as the chocolate factory just minutes drive away. The only tiny suggestion we would make for down the road improvements would be to replace the small fridge with a dishwasher (since there is a nice, big fridge in the kitchen already) and as far as cosmetic changes, perhaps a new mat for the bath.

Thanks so much for the kind review, so glad you enjoyed your stay. We are going to seriously look at the plumbing feasibility of installing a dishwasher in place of the small fridge (if it's possible we hope to get this done later this year). We will also replace the bath mat, thanks for letting us know about that. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in such a tranquil and relaxing setting."

Was very comfortable and having the conservatory as well as the games room to hang out in meant everybody got the space they needed. The hammock and sun loungers were a nice touch too. Lounge was comfortable and TV and broadband was excellent. We all loved watching the ducks go about their business and the kids loved playing with the friendly cats and patting the donkeys. Kitchen was fine, if a little short of worktop space and we kind of missed having a dishwasher to chuck dishes into but that's a minor complaint. Beds were very comfortable, had some great sleeps!

Othjerwise the cottage was well equipped, the neighbours (and ducks) were very friendly and the location was excellent.
