  • "Sarah and Padraig are wonderful hosts."

They live next door and were always helpful with any questions we had. Padraig went out of his way to find us a guide for a day of fishing on Lough Corrib. This is our second time staying there and we are looking forward to a third.

  • "I have used Sykes for a number of years and stayed in good and bad cottages, this one I would rate as one of the best for the price."

It was excellent all in v good condition The cooker ,washing machine, even a tumble drier and god forbid a dishwasher !! All in v good condition . The cottage is very spacious, and has some fantastic views Everything was v good, all except one thing which I told Mr / Mrs Lydon several times NO INTERNET !! in this day and age that is ,really is not good. It did cause us a few problems. Otherwise this cottage is a real gem and well looked after. Mr /Mrs Lydon are very amiable hosts

  • "We had a lovely stay at the cottage."

upon arrival we were welcomed by the owners who live nextdoors. We had a friendly chat, The hosts even made sure there was fresh milk in the fridge, coffee, tea and chocolate biscuits in the kitchen cupboard! It was a very clean, comfortable holiday home with large garden to relax in. Open area. Washing machine and dryer available. Shop around the corner, supermarket at 8 km.

  • "Robin's Roost is a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings."

We came into Corr na Mona through Cong (The Quiet Man village), and our first sight of Lough Corrib was simply breathtaking! The cottage itself is situated a couple of hundred metres down a side road, but the directions Sykes gave us were spot-on! The cottage is simply but comfortably furnished, has all you need and has stunning views from the front door and windows. Corr na Mona is centrally located for tourism, with Galway City, Clifden and Westport all within an hours' drive. Corr na Mona has no cafes or restaurants, but a few minutes' drive to Cong or Clonbur brings you to several quality restaurants and quite a few cafes. Our hosts, Mr & Mrs Lydon were friendly and approachable, but unobtrusive- they left us to get on with things, but were always available with advice and local knowledge. All in all, a wonderful holiday, Robin's Roost is recommended for couples looking for a romantic retreat, or just a bit of peace and quiet. We would definitely go back, except there's so much more of Ireland to see . . .

The area is beautiful with breathtaking scenery of lochs and mountains. There is plenty of good food on offer in pubs in nearby villages. There is also a very nice local pub a few minutes stroll from the cottage in which we were made to feel welcome.

It is fully equipped to a high standard with all that is needed for a short break away; from its front door views of neighbouring mountains can be seen and in mid-October we took breakfast outside! Perfect.

The situation was absolutely wonderful, looking down the lawn towards the lake and the hills. The surrounding area was consistently beautiful. Heard the cuckoo every day at Robin's Roost and had Mr and Mrs bullfinch for company on the lawn!
