We were initially glad to see that it didn't have the Internet, but being there two weeks made us realise how much we do depend on it, and we have spent most of our lives before the internet became popular! We read a lot and we took board games but by the end we were missing reading the news, looking at maps and finding out about things in the area. Guide books don't have enough information. The location was excellent, near loughs, mountains and sea. The people in the area are very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return. Reviewed by NigelDec 2021 "Sarah and Padraig are wonderful hosts." They live next door and were always helpful with any questions we had. Padraig went out of his way to find us a guide for a day of fishing on Lough Corrib. This is our second time staying there and we are looking forward to a third. It was excellent all in v good condition The cooker ,washing machine, even a tumble drier and god forbid a dishwasher !! All in v good condition . The cottage is very spacious, and has some fantastic views Everything was v good, all except one thing which I told Mr / Mrs Lydon several times NO INTERNET !! in this day and age that is ,really is not good. It did cause us a few problems. Otherwise this cottage is a real gem and well looked after. Mr /Mrs Lydon are very amiable hosts Reviewed by ColinMay 2019 "We had a lovely stay at the cottage." upon arrival we were welcomed by the owners who live nextdoors. We had a friendly chat, The hosts even made sure there was fresh milk in the fridge, coffee, tea and chocolate biscuits in the kitchen cupboard! It was a very clean, comfortable holiday home with large garden to relax in. Open area. Washing machine and dryer available. Shop around the corner, supermarket at 8 km. Very well received, very discreet owners although their house is next. Ideal house, the right size for three people, very well equipped, it has all the comfort you can wish Calm, very beautiful view. Really well located for visiting Connemara and Mayo. We highly recommend it. Reviewed by CatherineSep 2018 "Robin's Roost is a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings." We came into Corr na Mona through Cong (The Quiet Man village), and our first sight of Lough Corrib was simply breathtaking! The cottage itself is situated a couple of hundred metres down a side road, but the directions Sykes gave us were spot-on! The cottage is simply but comfortably furnished, has all you need and has stunning views from the front door and windows. Corr na Mona is centrally located for tourism, with Galway City, Clifden and Westport all within an hours' drive. Corr na Mona has no cafes or restaurants, but a few minutes' drive to Cong or Clonbur brings you to several quality restaurants and quite a few cafes. Our hosts, Mr & Mrs Lydon were friendly and approachable, but unobtrusive- they left us to get on with things, but were always available with advice and local knowledge. All in all, a wonderful holiday, Robin's Roost is recommended for couples looking for a romantic retreat, or just a bit of peace and quiet. We would definitely go back, except there's so much more of Ireland to see . . .
