  • "This property met all the criteria we set out to achieve when we started searching for a holiday house for 2 old folks, 2 sets of parents and 6 children, 5 ot whom were under the age of 8."

Close to a beach, beautiful sunset, plenty of space within the house, adequate cooking equipment to feed 12 at a time, good sized bedrooms all with en suite facilities was a major plus. Also closeness to good pubs with fine guinness. Kathleen the owner was very helpful and welcoming.

  • "I booked the Glassillaun Beach House for a trip with my parents, siblings, spouses, and my three kids based on the pictures and its location."

I had really high expectations, and I can say with complete honesty that every last one of us was still blown away by our stay. It was the highlight of our week long trip to Ireland. The house was immaculate and had everything we could have possibly needed. It is significantly bigger than we were expecting and is very clearly loved by its owners. And nothing can prepare you for the setting. It is breathtaking. Just steps to what felt like a private beach, a short drive to Connemara NP, Killary Sheep Farm (it may sound crazy, but this was everyone's favorite stop, from 78 year old to 8 year old... I'd call it a must visit especially when there are lambs), Killary Fjord, Kylmore Abbey, Paddy Coyne's Pub (our favorite of the MANY we visited), Purple Door Cafe, and more. I can't thank Kathleen enough for being so helpful and for offering to turn the lights on for us when we ended up getting in after dark (not sure we'd have found it otherwise!). This is an absolute gem of a house and a stunner of a location. We plan on coming back as soon as possible and staying for longer the next time around. You will not be disappointed!!!

  • "We had such a wonderful time at Glassilaun Beach House."

The house is so beautiful, spotlessly clean, with the most breath-taking view of Glassilaun beach. Such a stunning location and situated right at the entrance to the beach. The owner, Kathleen, was so lovely! Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday!

  • "This was our 2nd year in this property."

The location is stunning, the house is spacious, comfortable and was spotless. There is great accommodation, all rooms ensuite which suited us as we had 3 of my children and their families so we all had some private space. Kathleen was very accommodating in providing everything we needed, baby bath, high chairs etc. She was just so nice. We hope to be back there again over the coming years.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back!"

Ideal for families who especially love being by the sea. We would recommend the owner installs a clothes dryer, as the the weather cannot be relied on to dry clothes. I understand the environmental thinking about the clothes line but the dryer would be a back up. Due to covid, we didn’t get a host welcome but did briefly speak to Kathleen, whom couldn’t be more pleasant or accommodating. Thank you Kathleen.

The house came with everything we needed except a dryer, very well equipped and nice touchs like hand soap, washing up liquid etc. 6 adults and 7 kids stayed here very comfortably for a week. We will definitely return some day soon

  • "The views from this property are outstanding."

Kathleen welcomed us warmly and the house was very well equipped. Essentials such as toilet paper and washing up liquid were provided which makes staying away from home that bit easier. The kids had a great time and there was plenty of space for us to enjoy without getting under each other’s feet (there were only 11 of us) The house was lovely and warm and the beds comfortable. It’s a good 20 mins to the nearest shop by car, but we knew this because of the detail in the property description, so we made sure we stopped off on our way to the property.

It was our second year in a row to holiday there so we think that speaks for itself. We already knew all about the house and how clean and comfortable it was. Kathleen, the owner, lived next door and was very welcoming and friendly. A great house and a great holiday.

We could see them all the time.almost a private beach with only half a dozen others walking about. Scenery is gorgeous with mountains and a sea view from all rooms. Killary ffyord boat trip is a must as is the sea food chowder once on board. We were a party of 6 adults and 6 kids ( aged 3 - 10 ) . All 12 came home after thoroughly enjoying a great week.

  • "From the minute we arrived, we were impressed with the house and location."

Kathleen had everything ready and cosy for us in late October 2018. We were very lucky with the weather and got to the beach almost every day and to be fair, we would have no excuse not to, it's right there on the doorstep. Smashing house, very warm in winter weather, lovely rooms, all en-suite and the water was always boiling every day. Couldn't ask for more. Make your own of the location. Loads to do in the area and Paddy Coynes bar and restaurant is a must. The Killary Fjord tour is a really nice trip and well worth the costs. Overall, a prime location for a peaceful holiday and our teenagers even went scuba diving next door ...

  • "We couldn't have asked for more."

..... 14 people in the house (7 kids) and there was plenty of space. Rooms were well sound proofed and all ensuite which was brilliant. Hosts do live in the attached building but this is not noticeable at all. Stunning Beach was on the doorstep and is very safe, clean and even though we were in the middle of the heat wave, we had the beach to ourselves. At low tide there are Islands to walk out to and rock pools to fish in. I can't recommend the area, house and holiday enough. We live in Ireland and holiday here for one week every summer.... This has been this best yet after 12 years of family holidays in Ireland. There’s so much to do in the area. Loved Killary Fjord (Take the boat trip...), Letterfrack, Tully Cross, Omey Island is also a must but watch the tides...!!! Food is most places was simply beautiful. We walked to the local shop / Cafe each morning (Kings) which was brilliant also. Great food and the owner is most welcoming. Roads are quite to walk and the scenery is stunning. Wish I was back there.

We used the house as a base camp and did day trips around County Galway and County Mayo, worked out perfect. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners and they were very friendly and welcoming.
