  • "Staying at Larkside Cottage couldn't have been better."

It was a fantastic welcome to our new country (we just emigrated from South Africa). The cottage is lovely with all the facilities one could want. The countryside is absolutely beautiful. We've never before stayed in self-catering accommodation where they have basic supplies such as tea and coffee, cleaning materials and so on already there for you in the cottage so that you feel more at home straight away. Not to mention the hosts! They are incredibly helpful and friendly. With their advice and assistance we have managed to sort out many admin details needed at the start of our new life. We will always remember them as our fabulous introduction to Ireland. Thank you!

  • "Thank you, I enjoyed my stay so much."

Larkside Cottage is situated in beautiful surroundings, close to the village of Freshford and wonderful Kilkenny City, perfect for sight seeing. I met Peter the owner, a lovely man and so helpful and friendly, he brought me fresh eggs, a real treat. There is a real family atmosphere here complete with three of the loveliest dogs I have ever met, really entertaining. The cottage is very comfortable and well equiped, several of my friends and family came to visit me for lunch during my stay , it was perfect. The gardens are fantastic and so well presented, I have lots of new ideas for my garden here in New Zealand. This is a truly wonderful place to stay and I will definately be back, a week was not long enough.

  • "We had a really lovely time at this charming little cottage in a beautiful secluded position amid picture perfect countryside, and only 15min from Kilkenny."

The owners were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and so generous in inviting us to share their lovely garden and join their family gathering. Three dogs and a cat were equally welcoming and very happy to be fussed over (wonderful for the kids - and me) and we could easily keep them out of the cottage when we needed a rest and to eat by closing the bottom half of the split front door. We enjoyed the chickens running around, and particularly the generous gift of chicken and duck eggs (delicious), milk and other basics provided in the cottage so we didn't need to buy basics like dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc. The kitchen was charming and well equipped; the ground floor bedroom and sitting room were pretty and comfortable and the two shower rooms were great. The first floor bedroom with a double bed at each end in the eaves (and pretty separating curtain) was perfect for my two daughters to share. Wifi worked perfectly. We had two lovely days sightseeing locally and a day in Dublin. Highly recommended!
