"A very pleasant stay in a beautiful area."
House near enough to town to walk (15 mins) but can catch a bus on the main road (5 min walk). Everything you could need was found in the house including bikes if required. Host Mary had left cakes as a welcome and she kept in touch by whatapp. Would definitely recommend and stay here.again

"Fantastic week as always in Kilkenny."
House in a great location. 15 min comfortable walk into the city centre but only 5 mins drive from McDonagh Junction for a spot of retail therapy. Depending on walking capabilities the train station is only 8-10 mins walk too with several trains daily (Dublin Heuston on 1hr 20mins by train) There is a football pitch, all weather pitch and The Ken which is a Biodiversity area straight across the road with a relaxing circular walk around the perimeter. It is brilliant for those with kids who prefer some outdoors energy burning after sightseeing in the stunning city. The Orchard House bar and restaurant is just a stones through from the house with relaxed feel and delicious menu to suit everyone's tastes.
The house was more than adequate for our stay, stocked with games, books, WiFi and lots of brochures for nearby attractions.
House was spacious and well equipped with bikes and patio furniture in shed for use if required. Lots of towels per person per room provided and beds comfy and clean.
It's a quiet area so easy to have a lie in or late breakfast in the garden and kitchen was fully equipped for any dining requirements.
As a local to Kilkenny and bringing my children, husband and in laws home it really helped make it a relaxing & enjoyable holiday.
Would recommended any age range stay at Mary & John's house in Lovers Lane as there is a downstairs double bedroom & full bathroom to accommodate any needs. I will definitely be booking again when I return to Kilkenny.

It would have saved me £100 on buying a dongle I didn't need. Otherwise this property is outstanding and incredible value

"We have stayed at Lovers Lodge previously and it is a very comfortable, spacious and well situated place."
The facilities are very good and the addition of Wi-Fi is a very good idea. Mrs Breen had done a really nice job of preparing the home for Christmas and she had very kindly left biscuits and sweets as a welcoming gift. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kilkenny and would re3commend the cottage to anyone looking to stay in the City.

"When we arrived the Irish TV Channels were not working."
We reported to the owner, but this was not addressed prior to leaving. Also, large number of empty glass bottles at the back door was unsightly, these should have been disposed of prior to arrival. The door to the en-suite bathroom would not close. The kitchen and utility cupboards were not clean. There appeared to be what was dog hairs on the bed downstairs, both on sheets and Duvet.

It's in a lovely and peaceful location not too far from city centre.
I think thare is only a few things that need updating :
The downstairs shower and th shower in the main bedroom as they run off the hot water supply, also WiFi as there's none, but apart from that it's w wonderful place and give credit to the owners for a lovely place.

It was perfect for our stay with 2 families over New Year’s Eve. Loved the extra touches of the Christmas decorations and the festive treats on arrival. It was like home from home and our boys were delighted that there was a little football pitch just across the road. Would definitely recommend.

"We enjoyed our week at Lovers' Lodge."
The house was clean, spacious, well-equipped and comfortable; and was nicer than it looks in the photos. It was about a 15-minute walk to MacDonagh Junction shopping centre in Kilkenny (the castle and cathedral were a further 10-15 minute walk away).

"We were told that it was a 15 minute stroll to town, but it was more like 30 minutes."
I would have preferred to know that before we booked. Also there was no WiFi. I didn't specifically ask for it but I assumed that it would be standard so it was a shock to find out there was none.
Other than that we had a great stay and the house was beautiful. We had scones ready for us on arrival which was a lovely touch.

Pans are old and can't be used, we had to clean a lot in the beginning in all the rooms. Worst were lots of cables hanging unused everywhere.

"A group of 5 of us needed a base to explore the East Coast of Ireland and we found a real gem in Lovers Cottage."
4 VERY comfortable bedrooms with 3 great bathrooms were very welcome after long days seeing the sights of Kilkenny. We probably spent more time in the kitchen than anywhere else though. Everything you could need was at hand and the large table came in handy for a few games of cards and scrabble that were very kindly provided by our hosts.
A 15 minute amble and you are in the lovely town centre which is really worth an explore.
If you have a car you are just an hour or so from so many amazing towns on the east coast of Ireland, making Kilkenny a perfect location for this side of the country.
Thank you for your kindness Mary, the scones went down a real treat.

"Cottage is well located for access to central Kilkenny."
Large and comfortable with a helpful landlady. Wood burning fire in living room is very cosy. Three large bathrooms. Yard outside handy for exercising children! Local park nearby. Cottage was clean but not immaculate. Plenty of off road parking. You have to pay to dispose of household waste, which needs driving to a dump. Seems odd, think this should be included in the cost of the cottage. I'd recommend the cottage and Kilkenny for an Irish getaway.
