"Concept, location and Wi-Fi were good."
Bedding was comfortable clean and warm. Kitchen was greasy with longstanding cobwebs and dead spiders. There was a moldy cup in cupboard along with old food. A cupboard had to be thoroughly cleaned before we could put food in it etc. Bin was too small and lid broken and disgusting when liner removed. Microwave, toaster and kettle needed cleaning. All cutlery and pots had to be washed. There was only one teaspoon and two folks. Two bottles of medication left in a cupboard. Whole accommodation had to be dusted and tablecloth wiped clean. Bathroom had dust and hairs around the base of the sink and toilet. The initial cleaning took well over an hour to basic clean. All in all a lack of attention to detail, cleanliness and poor maintenance for a holiday let. It was such a shame as it was an ideal location for visiting our family who lived locally.
"Stony lodge is ideal holiday retreat."
Good location. Nice hosts. good equipment. well maintained.
"A great find."
It was warm and cosy. Anne left the keys for pick up and was more than willing to help with anything if needed. Only one negative and that’s the dog Pooh in the area just outside.
"Es war optimal."
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Gerne wieder! Vielen Dank für den warmherzigen Aufenthalt.
"What a charming holiday let."
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Very helpful host.Location perfect for travelling about as close to major transport links.Close to Kilkenny, only a short inexpensive taxi journey away.Kilkenny swinging with live music. Will be back.
"We felt absolutely like home, it was so comfy and the host were very nice and sweet."
The only thing what was a bit tricky, was the showertemperature configuration. Kilkenny is stunning and wonderful to go out in a pub, or wander around.
"The cottage is really lovely and has all the equipment you need."
Anne is extremely helpful and made our stay even better. Would certainly come again.
"We didn’t have a holiday as the property was well below the standard we have had in all the other properties via Sykes."
We had to get a B&B after traveling all day and had to return home the following day as no other accomadation was available as it was a bank holiday and a festival in kilkenny
"Anne and her family were so welcoming."
It was warm, comfortable and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend.
"This cottage is actually a sleep out on top of the owners garage (on the property)."
It was cosy and nice, however you are on the owners property and it is rural. This means it is necessary to have a car in order to get anywhere. I did not have a car, the owners did offer regularly to drop me places, however the listing didn’t specify this information. There are no footpaths/places to walk in to the city/shops. Considering how low the price is, it is fair, but the listing could be more accurate in terms of needing transport etc.
"Good and bad points to using Sykes cottages ."
Yet found a nice place for me to rant near Kilkenny but the amount of emails I receive a week from your website drives me mad. Please take me off your advertisement website
"We had an amazing time in kilkenny."
Anne and her family were more than obliging and very welcoming and friendly at our cottage. We will surely be back!
"The family whose apartment we stayed in were so friendly and kind and they made us feel like 'one of the family'."
They had two lovely dogs who greeted us every time we returned. We would, and have, recommended this apartment to others. The facilities in the apartment were very good, washing machine and microwave were very useful. It was well equipped and fitted with comfortable seating etc.
