This lovely gem is by far the best accommodation I have ever had in the Tipperary/Kilkenny/Waterford area. I have been visiting the region for many years now, and stayed in some good and bad hotels and guesthouses, so I don't give this type of review lightly. Nothing was too much trouble for Ethel. She was a really attentive host, and was only a step away if we needed her. As the apartment is so well equipped, we found that we had no need to trouble her at all, so we had total privacy. Ethel has put a huge amount of time and thought into ensuring that you will have all your creature comforts. The quality of the furnishing and decor is stunning. The kitchen is fully equipped and spotless, and the living area and bedrooms are so comfortable, that relaxing was easy. No traffic, planes or any noise other than the birds singing made for a very happy few days. There is much to do in the location and The Byre is a superb base. Sliahb na mBan is a skip away, and there is a stunning view of this gorgeous hill from the property. The Waterford Greenway is a 30 minute drive and the wonderful Kilkieran Cottage is a 10 minute drive away. The local pub, The Liosdobber, is a few minutes walk and you will meet all the locals here, particularly if you go midweek. They come here on Wednesdays to buy The Nationalist newspaper and have a couple of pints, so you'll be entertained with many funny stories and local news. Love this little pub. You can shop in Carrick on Suir for all your essentials, with a choice of Lidl, Aldi or SuperValu, as well as many interesting local shops. The Manor House here is also must to visit. I could go on, but visit The Byre and Ethel will fill you in on the rest. She's a mine of useful information. She's so enthusiastic about the area, that it's infectious, so you'll have no shortage of places to visit. I will definitely be returning and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this little piece of heaven to anyone in need of peace, space and revival of the soul. Thanks, Ethel, Tom and Family.
