The property

This charming detached cottage is situated on the banks of Lough Melvin, just five miles from the village of Kinlough in County Leitrim.

Boasting stunning lake views, this traditional cottage has been renovated and extended to offer guests a contemporary cottage with modern comforts and conveniences.

Tastefully decorated throughout, this lovely cottage features a bright and airy open plan living space complete with a fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a solid fuel stove and an impressive curved barn-style double height ceiling above.

Overlooking this space is a mezzanine area where the children can play or you can relax with your favourite book.

Three well-presented bedrooms are located in the older part of the cottage, one of which features an en-suite shower room for extra luxury during your stay.

To the outside of the cottage guests can enjoy a covered decked area with a table and chairs so you can sit out and enjoy the views of Lough Melvin.

The cottage also has private lake access across a quiet country road where fishing is available. From the doorstep you can enjoy walks uphill to stunning views of Lough Melvin and Donegal Bay.

The village of Kinlough is home to a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and is just a short drive to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, while nearby Rossinver has an Organic Centre which is a haven for gardening enthusiasts.

Leitrim boasts Ireland’s shortest coastline of three kilometers and the village of Kinlough is the perfect location to explore the north west of Ireland with an abundance of attractions within easy reach, including the seaside town of Bundoran, the historic town of Donegal and of course, Ireland’s stunning Wild Atlantic Way, Europe’s longest coastal route which starts in Malin Head in Donegal and stretches the entire western coastline of Ireland to Mizen Head in County Cork.

This route also encompasses the most breathtaking scenery you could imagine, including sandy beaches at Mullaghmore and Streedagh in County Sligo and the Slieve League Cliffs near Carrick in Donegal.

Activities nearby include cycling, hill walking, golf, surfing, swimming, diving and fishing.

Bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC. Open plan living area with kitchen, dining area (seats 6), and sitting area (seats 5) with solid fuel stove. First floor mezzanine sitting area (seats 5).

The village of Kinlough lies between the beautiful Darty Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. There are many amenities in the village including pubs, shops, restaurants, a takeaway and a folk museum! Nearby Lough Melvin provides superb fishing opportunities and is a natural haven that wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy. Just a few miles away, the bustling seaside town of Bundoran boasts a superb beach with watersports, such as surfing, available. Kinlough is also an excellent location for exploring Donegal to the north and Sligo to the south, the home of Willlaim Butler Yeats, who is buried beneath the imposing Ben Bullen Mountain.
