  • "This was our second time staying at Hawthorne Hideaway and it was just as good as we remembered."

The house was very clean and comfortable with lovely helpful hosts. We had a very warm welcome from their friendly dog Spot. The views and area are beautiful and peaceful with plenty to do, due to it being so close to a few different counties. We would definitely recommend Hawthorne Hideaway and hope to return in the future.

  • "Hawthorn offers a convenient gateway to the spectacular scenery of north County Leitrim and exceptional coastal area of north County Sligo."

The house itself is well positioned within tranquil and unspoilt countryside, yet only a few minutes by car from the town of Manorhamilton and the main arterial route of the N16, giving easy access to County Fermanagh. (I always think these parts of Leitrim, Sligo and Fermanagh form part of Ireland’s ‘Lake District’.) The house was clean and comfortable, and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. Overall, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a holiday home in a peaceful countryside setting, with easy access to the amenities of a town, but also close to picturesque lakes and mountains, and a stunning coastline.

  • "The cottage was spotless and everything you could possibly need for a self catering break."

The Stanley Stove made the Dining room/Snug toasty warm. There is also a multi fuel stove in the sitting room.....kindling and turf are provided . Loved the setting of the cottage. Its way up a country lane in the middle of a sheep farm. Primrose banks, Daffodils and birdsong greet you( as well as darling Spot...the resident dog) as you arrive.Take Wellies with you if you want to walk across the fields to the pond.Anne and Gary were lovely hosts and it was nice to chat to Anne about the olden days( 60,s and 70,s....lol

  • "We had the most lovely time at Hawthorn Hideaway."

It was exactly as advertised, spotlessly clean, with the added bonus of the Nespresso machine. Thanks to Ann and Gary for the warm welcome. We would definitely recommend this spot.

  • "Very spacious house, good advantage there’s a dryer and the cooker helps dry the clothes fast as you can hang them at the top, the stove is nice to light in the evening as the house is a bit cold especially when your out every day."

Disadvantage: the heating is on for an hour twice a day and taking long time to heat the rest of the house even if you keep putting it back on. Needs new toilet seat covers ( small toilet at the back door and main bathroom needs loads of bathroom rugs as the water goes everywhere when you have a shower. Overall it’s a Perfect staycation if you just want quietness as it’s on a very quiet road but also perfect base if your on the go as it’s close to borders of Sligo- Donegal - Cavan- Fermanagh. A bottle of wine maybe a good welcome too ☺️

  • "I had booked 7 nights from Wednesday 23rd leaving Wednesday 30/9/2020."

I got caught up in work and could not travel until Saturday evening 26-9-2020. I called the owners on Wednesday 23 rd morning and informed them that I could not travel and asked if there was any chance that if they do not have a booking on Wednesday 30/9/2020, could I use that night in lieu of the nights I had paid for, I was told yes. I travelled on Saturday 26/9 and was informed that I could stay the extra night only if they did not receive a booking. I was bitterly disappointed as in these times, the night could of easily been blocked off by the owners. I paid for 7 nights but only stayed there 3 nights,( I left Tuesday afternoon) which admittedly was my fault but there easily could have been a little flexibility. The house was very dirty and I have photographs (I can send on) dead flies in three cupboards, food debris in the cupboards, dishwasher not emptied from previous tenant and the most amazing 1/2 used toilet rolls in the bathrooms (who does that in normal times, never mind during a pandemic). I have friends who have air bnb's I know how easily it can be done. I know the basic requirement is cleanliness, secondary is to be accommodating to your quests. I reiterate especially during such uncertain times. Unfortunately this property failed in both. I would like a reply please. Kind Regards Andrew.

  • "Hawthorn hideaway cottage is exactly that, a hidden gem located in north Co Leitrim."

We received a great welcome from our hosts Anne on our arrival, both Anne and her husband Gary looked after us very well throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this beautiful cottage for a staycation at any time of the year. There is no shortage of things to do with an endless choice of walking/biking trails and an abundance of lakes for fishing nearby, however if its just peace and tranquillity you need this is definitely the ideal place to be. Full marks all round Anne & Gary, many thanks. We will be back. Ray & Noelle

  • "This is a great house."

Plenty of room for all of us (six people) and could have fit eight comfortably. There are three double beds and one set of bunks, three showers, four toilets. The kitchen is very well equipped and appliances looked relatively new. It was great to have a dryer as well as a washing machine (note: you have to empty out the moisture bin on the dryer every now and then). Great also to have a dishwasher, triple-oven cooker and microwave for the many mouths we were feeding. Bins for rubbish and recycling are out in the yard. It was toasty warm with the Aga in the dining room, though we turned it down as the weather was quite warm. But it was great for drying damp clothes on a rainy day or after a trip to the beach or lake. We'd intended to go to Sligo but couldn't find accommodation there. I was a bit worried Hawthorn Hideaway might be too isolated but it's a short drive into Manorhamilton, and not far from the Glencar waterfall. We discovered that Leitrim is every bit as beautiful as Sligo. Thanks to Ann and Gary for making our stay hassle-free. We intend to return soon.
