    “adorable cottage, wonderful setting”

    Buttercup Cottage is adorable, and decorated lovingly in authentic Irish cottage style. It's cozy and comfortable. Bernie and Martin are wonderful hosts--THANK YOU for the wine, the jams, the scones, the fantastic performance on multiple Irish instruments by Jessica, and your great suggestions for off the beaten track places to go, including the Black Valley and the Uragh Stone Circle. Newcastle West is a village with a good grocery store and pubs. The cottage is on a working farm, and it's ...

    Buttercup Cottage is adorable, and decorated lovingly in authentic Irish cottage style. It's cozy and comfortable. Newcastle West is a village with a good grocery store and pubs. The cottage is on a working farm, and it's nice to compost stuff to share with Matilda the pig! Fascinating stuff to see in all directions.

The property

A vibrant detached cottage located in the charming village of Ardagh.

Ideal for families and friends, this characterful retreat is laced with tradition, and makes a glorious place to relax day after day.

Upon entering, you will be greeted by a neutrally decorated sitting room, home to comfortable sofa's as well as an open fire for those cosy nights in.

Just off from this, a dining room is a quirky area to enjoy your favourite meals, with a glimpse of colour, creating an uplifting atmosphere.

Wander into the kitchen complete with the essentials you need to prepare you favourite meals, throughout your stay.

The shower room compliments the layout well, and makes a lovely place to unwind, or simply get ready for the day ahead.

Take the stairs and two double bedrooms await, layered with pretty bedding and attention to detail.

Here you will look forward to a peaceful nights sleep, or even relaxing with a good book in the late evenings.

For a classical touch, a twin bedroom is neatly presented, so you can feel refreshed after waking up.

Make the most of this desirable location by resting outside in the garden on a pleasant afternoon, or why not head into the village of Ardagh surrounded by countryside and home to a shop, two pubs and a Post Office.

Only a short drive from the town of Newcastle West which boasts the ruins of a medieval castle just off the town square.

Also close by is the village of Adare, wrapped in history and certainly worth a visit.

The village of Ardagh sits in the very heart of County Limerick, surrounded by glorious green countryside. Ardagh is home to a local shop, two pubs and a Post Office and is only a short drive from the town of Newcastle West, Limerick's second largest after Limerick City, which is situated on the River Arra and boasts the ruins of a medieval castle just off the town square. Also close by is the village of Adare, which is recognised as Ireland's prettiest village, situated on the River Maigue and steeped in history with its quaint cottages topped by neat thatched roofs. The county of Limerick offers delightful walks and cycle routes, excellent golf courses, traditional pubs, and overall, a superb base for touring the region.
