  • "The house was super, super clean, well equipped, very spacious and comfortable, the jacuzzi just exactly right after a long walk along the beach, the location ideal for many excursions and walks, and Mary is a treasure box of local knowledge."

Thanks and congratulations to the owners and the keeper.

  • "Absolutely fell in love with Co Mayo and The Wild Atlantic Way!"

Shraigh Beach is a really comfortable home away from home and the location meant that we were in the perfect place to explore the area fully - the superb beaches, Ballycroy National Park and the wild seas.

  • "It was an idyllic location and one of the most relaxing holidays we have had ."

Even on a wet and windy day we were warm and cosy inside the cottage looking out to the rough stormy sea . If we are over that way again we would definitely stay there again .

  • "This house has everything you need for a relaxing holiday ."

.. The equipment is great, in the kitchen everything available, the living area generous with fireplace and a bar, the beds are very comfortable, a restful sleep guaranteed... From the house you have a fantastic view to the sea, to Achill Island... you can see beautiful rainbows over Bellmulet (we had luck and saw them many times)... you can walk to the beaches in a couple of minutes and you can enjoy romantic sunsets... At night, in clear weather, you can see the most beautiful starry sky with the Milky Way, which you can imagine. Thank you Mary for looking after us, you made us feeling like home in that beautiful house.... we will definitely be back

  • "The cottage was absolutely brilliant, but in this day and age Wi Fi should be made available, even if you had to pay for it on a daily basis, those who need it I am sure would be happy to pay, and a safe would also add a level of security as the cottage is quite remote for items like passports or holiday spending money."

The area was fantastic. Our only issue was with you guys at Sykes. We didn’t get the dates we originally asked for due to a mixup at your end.

It was close to the beach and there were sea views from most windows. It was a home away from home but with a lot more peace and serenity!

About the location

Bangor Erris 12 miles.

Known as the capital of the Mullet Peninsula in the barony of Erris, the coastal town of Belmullet rests between Blacksod and Broadhaven Bays, inlets of the Atlantic Ocean, and represents the entry point to this mystical and unspoilt County Mayo headland. Although classed as a Gaeltacht (or Irish-speaking) area, English is universally used. Much of the native culture and heritage of Ireland can be experienced here, from traditional Irish music to the song and dance for which Ireland is renowned the world over. Many visitors to the area enjoy the fantastic fishing on offer, both salt and fresh water, while watersports are also popular with surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing available from the beaches locally. Welcoming and friendly, the town boasts a number of pubs, four hotels, shops and seafood restaurants, as well as a selection of festivals throughout the year. You can also visit the Gateway Leisure Park, ideal for a family day out on those rainy days with various leisure and sporting activities for the children. At the four corners of Erris you will find the Neolithic Cèide Fields, the unspoilt wilderness of Ballycroy National Park, the towering cliffs of Ceann Iorrais (Erris Head) and the final resting place of the fabled Children of Lir, the island of Inis Gluaire.
