“An immaculately clean and deceptively spacious cottage with great views of Slievemore Mountain and over the sea.”

Yvonne and Joe looked after us very well, and we couldn't have asked for a better equipped place to base ourselves. It's well located, and the whole of Achill Island is easily reachable if you have a car, which is great because there are plenty of walking and sightseeing options, even in the low autumn season.

Yvonne and Joe looked after us very well, and we couldn't have asked for a better equipped place to base ourselves. It's well located, and the whole of Achill Island is easily reachable if you have a car, which is great because there are plenty of walking and sightseeing options, even in the low autumn season. We would highly recommend you book this warm and homely cottage, albeit not when we're planning to return :-)

The property

This delightful detached cottage is situated on the picturesque Achill Island in Dugort, a small village in County Mayo at the foothills of Slievemore Mountain.

Boasting spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, this property, with four bedrooms, is ideal for family and friends seeking a peaceful retreat in an area of beautiful scenery.

With a bright and spacious open plan living area, you can sit in the welcoming sitting area while admiring the ocean views, whilst the designated 'chef for the day' rustles up a delicious dinner in the well-equipped kitchen.

The comfortable second sitting room offers a great place to retreat to after dinner.

Throw another log on the open fire and watch the dancing flames while you relax after exploring this beautiful part of the west coast.

There is a ground floor double room, climb the stairs where you will find a further three bedrooms, all of which provide a pleasant choice of accommodation that will ensure a great night's sleep to prepare you for the following day's adventures.

With five Blue Flag beaches, Achill has some of the most stunning and secluded beaches in Ireland.

Only fifteen minutes' drive away is the village of Keel.

Here you will find surfing, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking that the sporty members of your group will enjoy.

Also since the Atlantic Ocean surrounds the island, it's one of the best fishing destinations to be found in the area.

Visit the deserted village at Slievemore or engross yourself in a magnificent scenic drive along the Wild Atlantic Way to Westport, a heritage town situated in the shadow of Croagh Patrick, overlooking Clew Bay.

A lovely Emerald Isle cottage.
