The National Museum of Ireland - Country Life can be found a short drive away, providing a superb day out for families of all ages; here you can immerse yourself in the past traditions of everyday life for Ireland's ancestors.

Further afield is the popular heritage town of Westport, which benefits from a unique array of cafes, boutiques and colourful buildings, whilst sandy beaches and watersports can be enjoyed in Sligo and the Achill Island, just 40 minutes' drive from your Foxford cottage.

Foxford is a delightful town situated on the River Moy in County Mayo. Foxford is well known as a tourist centre and has a variety of traditional pubs, restaurants and shops. Nestled between the Ox and Nephin Mountains, the town caters for a range of outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking and fishing. The Foxford Way is a 53 mile long trail which takes in the Ox Mountains, archaeological sites, boglands and river banks. For fishing enthusiasts, the River Moy offers some of Ireland's best salmon fishing, whilst nearby Loughs Conn and Cullin provide opportunities for brown trout fishing. Further afield are the towns of Ballina, Castlebar and Sligo, the Ballycroy National Park and Achill Island, all suitable for a day trip.
