Strandhill village lies on the County Sligo peninsula of Coolera, on the western side of Knocknarea mountain. The village sits on the edge of the Atlantic ocean and boasts wonderful beaches that stretch for miles. The historical site of Killasprugbrone church lies to the north of the village along the shoreline. Strandhill beach is world renowned for its waves and attracts surfers from many countries. The village offers many surf schools for the novice. There are many mountain climbs on neighbouring Knocknarea mountain that offer dramatic views over the surrounding terrain.
