The property

This delightful detached cottage, previously a B&B, is set in its own grounds in the village of Aclare in County Sligo.

Set down its own private drive, this lovely property is ideal for families or groups of friends looking for a place to get together that is in walking distance of a shop and pub but feels both spacious and rural.

The front of the property has wonderful views of the surrounding Ox Mountains and provides ample off road parking.

You enter the property via a small porch which leads into a spacious hallway.

The property is light and airy throughout and has been thoughtfully furnished by the owner to provide comfortable accommodation.

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious meals and for more casual dining there is a small dining table with views over the paddock to the front.

Double doors lead from the kitchen into the first sitting room so with the doors left open everyone can be sociable, even the chef.

For more formal dining there is a large table in the second sitting room where everyone can sit together.

This large room has a warming open fire, comfy sofas and wonderful views from the windows over the surrounding Ox Mountains.

There are four bedrooms in the property with one of the family rooms being located on the ground floor with its own en-suite - perfect for family members who are not so mobile.

Upstairs are three further bedrooms, two with en-suites and the third with Jack-and-Jill access to the main bathroom, so there’ll be no queuing in the mornings!

The village of Aclare is only a five minute walk away where you can enjoy a pint with the locals and pick up any essentials from the local shop.

There is plenty to do in this area with walking and cycling nearby.

Fishermen will enjoy fishing for salmon on the River Moy.

A short drive will take you to Tobercurrry with its larger selection of amenities and weekly farmers' market where you can pick up some tasty treats.

Why not visit the impressive Moyne Abbey or Neolithic tomb at Dolmen, or take a day trip to the county town of Sligo where there are historic monuments to discover and pretty buildings to explore?

Tobercurry 7.6 miles; Sligo 30miles; Ballina 17 miles.

Aclare is a small village in County Sligo in the parish of Kilmactigue. The village, as well as the surrounding townlands, have a strong musical tradition and are famous for their musicians and singers, particularly in Irish traditional music. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes nearby including the Lough Talt and Lough Easkey Loop walk. Fisherman can enjoy fishing on both the nearby River Inagh and River Moy, famous for its salmon fishing. The beautiful town of Tobercurry is a short drive away nestled at the foot of the Ox Mountains, and is home to numerous shops, pubs and its famous annual Drama Festival. Mayo’s largest town, Ballina, is just a short drive from Tobercurry, and lies just over the border in County Mayo. It is home to the ecclesiastical ruins of the impressive Moyne Abbey, as well as a 4000 year old Dolmen, a single-chamber megalithic tomb. The county town of Sligo is a little further in the other direction and offers an interesting day out with historic monuments and pretty buildings to enjoy. With exceptional walking and fishing available, and lots of places to visit within easy touring distance, Aclare is a great location all year round.
