The village of Castledaly lies just a short drive from the main motorway, that sprawls from one side of the country to the other, making this a superb touring base with many popular destinations and attractions within reasonable reach.

Spend a day in the bustling town of Athlone, home to an excellent selection of shops, pubs and eateries, not to mention Athlone Castle and the impressive Luan Gallery, which houses both national and international art displays.

The famous monastic site, on the banks of the River Shannon, at Clonmacnoise is only a 20-minute drive away, where you can step back in time and admire the monastery ruins, including cathedral ruins, eight churches, two round towers and three high crosses!

Why not visit the Kilbeggan Distillery and sample some local tipple, spend a day cruising the River Shannon or even sample some local seafood in the city of Galway.

The small rural village of Castledaly is situated in the heart of Ireland in County Westmeath, half way between the east and west coastlines, making it a superb base for touring and discovering the country. Surrounded by rich farmlands and sprawling green fields, there are endless country roads and lanes to spend time wandering along, either on foot or bike. Close to the borders of Roscommon and Offaly, there are many attractions within easy reach, including the distillery at Kibeggan, Athlone Castle, Luan Gallery and the famous Clonmacnoise site dating back to the 6th century, home to an impressive group of round towers, high crosses and cathedral ruins. Why not take a boat trip and cruise along the River Shannon, or discover your love for oysters in the city of Galway just over an hour’s drive away! A lovely base for your Irish break.
