  • "We stayed in River Dale cottage in June 2022 with our four young children."

We feel we were extremely lucky to find this amazing house so close to Sligo Town and yet in a quiet peaceful location only a few minutes drive from Glencar, Rosses Point and many other scenic areas. The house was exceptionally clean and comfortable. John went out of his way to make us and our children feel welcome. The comfort of Riverdale cottage enabled us to truly enjoy our break in Sligo. We couldn't recommend this property highly enough. Thank you John and Marion. Karl & Lynn

Hi Karl and Lynn, what an absolute pleasure to meet you and the children. Im delighted that the mixed weather didn't hinder your enjoyment of the local surroundings and thank you so very much for keeping Riverdale so well during your stay. • "Idyllic location, rural road but minutes away from the town."

Benbullben walk, beaches and forests all around, or Glencar waterfall, you won't be disappointed with places to visit. The natural beauty is all around, you can see why W.B Yeats loved the location. The house becomes a home while you stay there. It has every amenity necessary. Every detail is considered. Wonderfully thoughtful hosts spend time preparing for your stay. Some welcoming items, a beautifully laid house with every modern convenience. The showers are wonderful, the WiFi fast, the beds comfortable, and the house is bright and airy. Even if it rains outside, it's a lovely house to just relax and chill. The house is the cleanest house we ever stayed in, thanks to John and Marion. I normally arrive with cleaning products and give a quick clean but my products stayed in the bag until we returned the house back to John and Marion on departure day. Will definitely stay again, when you find the prefect house, you don't need to look elsewhere. I am more than happy to go back next year with my children and husband. They all loved the house as much as I did. My warmest wishes to John and Marion from Allison and family.

Dear Alison,Ken and family. We are delighted that you had such a positive experience staying at Riverdale. Thank you so much for returning the cottage in such pristine condition and for your lovely card and chocolates. It would be a pleasure to see you all again in the future. • "This booking completely exceeded our expectations!"

From the more than warm welcome, to the property itself, it was easy to switch off from the moment we arrived. The house feels bigger than the pictures show. Especially with a group of 5, there is enough space to cook, dine, and entertain various interests, without having to move things around constantly. It is exceptionally clean, and has plenty of everything you may need: cooking utensils, dinnerware, towels, hair dryer... With a place like this, the weather becomes secondary! The location is perfect, and most of our activities were less than a 15min drive away. We booked another holiday there for the next year upon the day after returning home. Definitely recommend this gem and hope with growing demand the high standard can be kept. Thanks so much, John & Marion! See you next year.

Dear Lisa and family.Such wonderful feedback to receive and we are so thrilled that Riverdale was above and beyond what you expected. We strive to ensure the satisfaction of our guests and so happy when they have a positive experience which reinforces our effort to maintain high standards for future guests. The wifi is excellent and there are many home and satellite channels and a lovely wood-burning stove to relax in front of at the end of the day. Can't belive it has taken me till now to realise how great Sligo is as a holiday destination- we had some great days out - Mullaghmore was a favourite and Glencar waterfall. • "We were a party of four adults, and, on departure, unanimous in agreeing that Sligo is a wonderful location for walking, climbing, cycling, surfing and exploring cultural interests."

Perhaps we would leave out swimming, as the sea (or lake) water is cold. Riverdale, our cottage, enhanced all these pleasures at the start and the end of each day of outings. Windows on the east, south and west sides of the cottage commanded pasture, mature trees and skies - specimen views of the green image of Ireland. There were plenty of comfortable corners in which to read. At night the only sound likely to be heard was the patter of rain. The spaces for cooking and dining and relaxing were wide and easy to manage - further back, the sleeping, bathroom and laundry accommodation were all equally well-provisioned. Covid-19 as a background factor in our late July stay only made for even greater appreciation of the cheerful ambience of the cottage inside and out. We received a very friendly welcome and send-off from the hosts (next door), but did not need to call on them for any assistance. The large folder of information they had prepared on the town and area was particularly useful when planning our expeditions.
