Our host was very hospitable and had the stove lighting when we arrived aswell as providing ingredients in the fridge for a cooked irish breakfast, scones and 2 mini bottles of wine. She gave us lots of advice on places to see and where to eat. An electric blanket was on the bed and there were 3 armchairs and a couch. Very tranquil setting. We enjoyed our stay very much

Big enclosed gardens ideal and safe for our dogs and also for enjoying the summer sun. Bernie was very helpful, plenty of tips and advice on where to visit. Nothing was too much trouble. Really enjoyed our stay.

  • "The property was in a lovely quiet area and had plenty of space for our dogs to run around safely outside."

The owner was great and she would message with ideas of places to go that matched our interests each day. The bathroom could do with a little updating of the shower cubicle. However the rest of the cottage was comfortable.

  • "This cottage was a fabulous location for visiting relatives ."

My husband was very impressed with the dark sky for star gazing having taken his refractor and telescope to view the night sky . Obviously this cottage does have steps internally to the toilet so not suitable for wheelchair users . Bernie called around to make sure all was ok , left a very welcoming breakfast and wine in the fridge and plenty of coal for the fire !

  • "This cottage was a wonderful surprise, and Bernie, the owner was very accommodating."

We had a fridge full of anything we could need on our first night/morning - an Irish breakfast, milk, wine and a fire lit! - The cottage was steeped in history and a wonderful throw back to traditional Irish living - this was a very relaxing week and we were close enough to Dungarvan to access all entertainment and fabulous restaurants we needed - it was also prefect for our dogs with its big garden which is enclosed and safe. I would highly recommend this cottage and host. If its a couple's escape you are seeking - then step back in time to Carthy's cottage and enjoy every moment it provides. We got out and about every day and discovered many coves/beaches and towns within 20 miles all worth a visit - Lismore, Stradbally, Dungarvan - the trip to Dunmore East and Passage East is beautiful - the Copper Coast drive is also a wonderful way to spend the day. A most memorable week.

  • "It's too complicated."

If I book through Booking com, Idon't want to communicate still with another office. You phoned me several times and when I call back you don't know why they phoned me. And I booked 5 appartements in Ireland and when you phone me why schould I know which appartement it concerns and I thought I would just communicate with Booking com and not with somebody else.

  • "Our host Bernie was very welcoming and helpful - even with our two dogs, we talked briefly about before arrival!"

All information needed was provided so we did not need to ask for more support. Our host gave us a little tour around the house and the surrounding area. We hiked and did cycling tours - the Greenway from Dungarvan to Waterford is perfect for that. So was the accommodation: A beautiful and charming cottage with a big garden including stunning view. The pictures in the listing show exactly what you'll find.

  • "We stayed in Carthy's cottage with our small dog."

We were made most welcome and the cottage was lovely and traditional but with every mod con we needed. The front enclosed courtyard and big grassy enclosed garden at the back of the house was perfect and safe for our dog. The cottage itself was much roomier than we expected. The landlady was very kind and helpful and was ever only a phonecall or text away. The area was so peaceful and we were never too far away from the places and sights we choose to visit. The Comeragh Mountains and Mahon Falls are only a 20 minute drive away and Colligan Woods less than 10 minutes away. So many lovely walks and such beautiful scenery and a lovely traditional cottage to relax in, a holiday to remember!
