  • "We loved Glen Gables - it's the perfect place for a stay at Fethard on Sea in the Hook Peninsula."

The listing really doesn't do it justice - the grounds are beautiful, there IS wifi and there could be more detail about the layout and facilities. The house is utterly spotless and the owner lives next door and couldn't be more helpful. Highly recommended!

  • "Excellent holiday house for two couples, a group of friends or a family."

In a quiet and attractive rural spot, a 15 min walk or short drive to the pleasant village of Fethard, which has a well stocked 7-11 type small supermarket, an great traditional pub, a gastronomic restaurant and two cafes and a couple of takeaways. Well situated to visit this lovely part of Ireland. The owner, Aidan, lives adjacent and is on hand if any problem arises and is a friendly man, always up for an interesting chat. The outside area is a lovely spot to have breakfast or an early evening drink, weather permitting. Recommended.

  • "We had a lovely welcome from the owner, Aiden and his two lovely dogs."

The kitchen was well equipped and matching crockery not like some places we have stayed. Myself I thought the bed was not very comfy, but the bed my sister had was fine, There is an issue with the water pressure, but that could be the area (one shower at a time) It would be lovely and cosy in the winter with the wood burner going. It was lovely chatting with Aiden who was most welcoming.

  • "We had a fantastic holiday, the direction could have been better but did not effect our holiday."

Everything we needed was there. The owner, Aidan, was at hand along with his beautiful dogs. Everything about the holiday was perfect, it was private, quiet and comfortable Certainly worth a revisit.

  • "We loved our two week stay at Glen Gable, 4 of us, including two children (10 and 12)."

The location is fabulous, surrounded by fields, young cows in one field for our first week. The village is just a 15 min walk away or a few minutes by bike, less by car of need be, with a convenience store with fuel, bars, takeaways, even a restaurant and Fethard Castle. We took our bikes with us, and cycled to a few beaches, including Grange and Baginbun and Duncannon, but also drove to a few, including the fabulous Dollar Bay. The cottage is beautiful, set in lots of space, a nice long avenue gravelled driveway up to.the property. Extensive garden to the rear, including a small slide, fashioned swing, and a barbecue. It was so quiet, yet close enough to essential facilities. The beaches in the location vary greatly, but are all lovely. Some have facilities, others very little, so.yountake your pick. We would absolutely return to this location on a heart beat.

Garden very large and impressive full of majestic old trees. Lovely owners. Beaches close by are wonderful. Had unbelievable weather. Would recommend.

  • "A lovely house, great location with a peaceful garden."

Described as detached, which should be changed as it is not and the owners live on site.

  • "A lovely well equipped and spotlessly clean cottage with a beautiful garden, in a perfect location."

The owners were really friendly, close by if needed but not at all intrusive. They have clearly worked very hard to make the cottage so nice. We would stay again in a heartbeat, the kids didn't want to leave.

  • "We had a wonderful family break - Glen Gable was exceptionally clean and so comfortable."

The gardens and grounds around the house were beautiful and so well maintained. The house well stocked with all that a family would need and there was great fun on the adventures up the spiral staircase to the "top floor"! I would highly recommend Glen Gables - clean, comfortable, cosy, quite and only 700m from the lovely village of Fethard-on-Sea.

Fethard-on-Sea is a village nestling to the east of the Hook Peninsula, in the south-west of lovely County Wexford. Fethard-on-Sea has a colourful history, including the lifeboat tragedy of 1914, and the Fethard-on-Sea Boycott, which has been immortalised in print and on film. Now a quiet fishing and holiday village, Fethard makes a great base to enjoy sandy beaches, shops and pubs. The Hook Peninsula continues to attract visitors due to the ancient lighthouse and a multitude of beaches. There is a beach a day for a fortnight on the Peninsula, plus there are a variety of watersports, such as diving, snorkelling and shore angling, along with painting and birdwatching. There are many interesting historical sites to visit, such as Tintern Abbey with its walled garden, guided tour and forest walk and medieval abbeys in Dunbrody and Graiguenamanagh, plus the star shaped Elizabethan Fort at Duncannon houses a military and maritime museum, and The Cockleshell Art Gallery. Head up to New Ross and visit the JFK Arboretum or the Dunbrody Famine Ship, or travel over to Waterford in the west or Wexford in the east to take in all they have to offer, from the Wexford Opera House, Johnstown Castle and The Heritage Park to Waterford Castle and Waterford Crystal.
