“The house has an electric gate, so you need to know the code or be able to contact the owner when you arrive.”
I had to climb the gate!
I had to climb the gate! I found the directions a bit difficult to follow, and no Satnav co-ordinates were given. I discovered later that by entering 'Ahare' in Satnav I was taken almost to the house's gate. Overall, we were very pleased. It's an excellent house. We hope to stay again later this year. RE
Even better than the pictures. Clones / Castletown Beach 20 minutes walk away, so for small kids driving there is a better choice. Isolated location so be prepared to drive for groceries, but on the other hand tranquil with great views.
“This self contained part on the right-hand side of the house is very comfortable and we'll appointed.”
The area is quiet and the view from the front and back is lovely. Sitting out in the back garden with a drink on a sunny evening is what holidays are about.
“Very nice cottage, stunning views”
Seven Gables is located outside Castletown in Wexford and about 8KMs from Gorey. The cottage is part of a large house and is a very good sized two bed property in it's own right. It has a large lounge with Coal effect electric fire, flat screen T.V (No sky just freeview), DVD player and two very comfortable settees. The Kitchen Diner is also big and has all you need for a comfortable stay, plenty of crockery and cutlery there is also a dishwasher, electric cooker, fridge and a microwave. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms one with an en-suite shower room, the other has twin beds and plenty of wardrobe space. There is a very good bathroom with shower over. Outside there is a shed which has a washing machine and all you need to your holiday laundry. The properties best feature has to be the back garden which is very large and beautifully laid out with plenty of comfortable furniture there is also a chimnea for those chilly evenings. The best bit about the garden is that it backs onto a field in which is three very friendly horses we spent a lot of time with them. To the front the property looks on to Tara hill and the view is just stunning especially on a bright clear sunny evening (when you get them). Locally there is a shop about 1 km and a really nice pub (Golden Anchor) 1 km in the other direction, there are some really good walks around the area and Clone Strand Beach is about 15 -20 minute walk. In order to see other parts of Wexford and Wicklow you do need a car so I would not recommend this location if you do not have one. The owners of this place are really nice and greet you warmly and once they have shown you around pretty much leave you alone and as the owner said they are either next door or a phone call way should you need anything. My only criticism, and is it a small one, is there was no welcome pack, not even the makings of a cuppa, despite a few teabags being left in a jar and after a long drive it would have been nice not to have to drive to the store to get supplies. perhaps the owners overlooked it. However despite that I would definitely come back as it was a lovely place.
“Lovely cottage and location, as we flew from england to ireland, we would have appreciated tea/coffee and a drop of milk on arrival!”
“Beautiful house in spectacular setting”
The owners had thought of everything in this property - we especially liked having two bathrooms (no arguments!), the kitchen and lounge were spacious, and the garden was lovely. Hills to the back and front of the house gave it a peaceful feeling, but Gorey was just a short drive away, with its many shops and restaurants. We enjoyed traditional music at a local hotel, and found the location ideal for visiting New Ross, Wicklow and Wexford. Tip: the Bay cafe at Brittas Bay serves a wonderful range of breakfasts.
Stunning cottage, stunning views from all angles, this is the perfect base for exploring the south east and east of ireland, the cottage is lovely, very welcoming, lovely garden as well, we had a fantastic holiday exploring wexford, Wicklow, new Ross, dublin, navan, and to many places to mention! Would recommend to anybody, would love to return someday.
