Has everything you need for a great holiday. If you're looking to have a working holiday the WiFi in the area is practically nonexistent.

  • "We have just got back from a fantastic stay at Waters House."

Joanne was a super friendly host and made sure we were settled in. The house was perfect, much bigger and brighter in real life than is portrayed on the pictures. It has everything you need. The view is just beautiful and tranquil, we enjoyed looking out to the cows and the sea from the conservatory every morning. We have two toddlers who loved playing in the garden and it is fenced all the way around the house for extra security. We would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone. Thank you!

Very comfortable and bright with loads of natural light. Large, well kept garden. My only criticism is that the oven was not great, but apart from that the house was fantastic.

  • "We had a fab stay at Waters House."

It is a lovely property in a fantastic location with gorgeous views over the sea. The house is comfortably furnished with good sized rooms though we tended to be in the conservatory for a lot of our stay enjoying the stunning views. There isn’t a pub in walking distance - it’s a 5 to 10 minute drive to Wellingtonbridge but that wasn’t a problem for us. Along with the great pub serving good food was a supermarket, various takeaways and a reasonably priced petrol station. We enjoyed the location which enabled us to explore the Bannow Bay and the Hook peninsula coastline. There is a gorgeous sandy beach at Duncannon and another great place to eat called The Strand which did a great roast! We will return! Thank you Joanne for making us feel so welcome.

  • "We had a lovely stay here."

The property is very spacious, clean and right near the beach. It had beautiful views and we had a lovely relaxing time. We did have to change mattresses with the 2nd double room as it was very uncomfortable. Also needed a few more breakfast bowls as only 2 available and there was 5 of us. We did let the owner know at the time but didn't hear back. All in all it didn't put us off our stay and would come back again.

  • "Lovely bright house with large garden and great views."

However, for the price, you would expect a decent sized and comfortable bed (considering you'll spend maybe a 3rd of your holiday there), not a tiny cramped and lumpy thing. Also (I don't want to sound like a snob, just being honest), most of the furniture looks like it's been pulled out of a skip. I don't mean to be harsh, the house was really clean and the owner seemed nice, and if you just want a base for exploring then it's perfect. The location is fabulous, even though access to the rocky beach is extremely dangerous due to erosion. Saying that, throw a stone in any direction and you'll hit a beach down there! Incredibly beautiful picturesque part of the world though with loads to explore. Enjoy.

.it was of a poor standard of cleanliness which l found appalling in line with our current situation…ie COVID-19..not only that the toaster tripped the electrics on the first morning then the washing machine gave an electric shock so l had to use a wooden spatula to turn it offf and if that wasn’t enough the owner knocked on the 2nd last day to spray weeds…not a standard I am used to from Sykes

I have to say that Joanne ( property owner) was very helpful & co-operative and she did her level best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. She was there to welcome us at property late in the evening on arrival and showed us around. She lives next door and was always available for any issues with prompt response. She went out of the way to look after us. Plenty of space, beautiful bathrooms, and scenery was heavenly. Best part of the day was to have cup of tea in the afternoon in sun room ( conservatory) with separate radiator for the space. Wifi was excellent and mobile signals were surprisingly great. I would certainly recommend this property.

So great to just sit in the living room an look at the Sea. :-) The fireplace was great too. We had some nice evenings in front of it. The only negative thing were the matresses, as these were quite old and not very comfortable. But we had a great week in this house. Thank you very much!

  • "Waters House is in a fabulous location and is very comfortable."

The owners responded very quickly the morning after we arrived and changed the mattress of one of the beds also mentioned in the feedback - by lunchtime! It is five minutes drive from Bannow Beach and the remains of a Norman church. The beach is shallow and has wonderful waves. It is hardly used so you will have a huge stretch of sand mostly to yourselves. The nearby Hook Peninsula is remarkable and not well known. We had a great time sea kayaking. But for those who wish to stay at home it is peaceful and beautiful just gazing out to sea from the conservatory. The house is bigger than it appears in the photos. We had 14 of visiting family to supper one evening. The rooms are all pleasingly decorated. The easy walks along the local lanes are also a great pleasure. This is a great place for a holiday!

The beach (accessible for dogs) is only a couple of minutes away, and the cottage also serves as an excellent base for trips into the wider area. We had everything we could possibly need, and were able to combine relaxation with outdoor activities. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to others.

  • "The location of the house is fantastic, right by the sea so you can hear and smell the water."

But the house is tired and half hearted at best, so for me does not score the rating you have given it - this was disappointing because we have used Sykes for years now and this house has let you down. The beds (mattresses and headboards) are old, uncomfortable and need replacing. The hob has been smashed and glued back together! The kitchen utensils were non-existent, literally just the absolute minimum - I've seen better in a caravan! The house needs to be listed as a 2* because that would manage the expectations of people looking to book something a bit special, which this - apart from location - is not. I have some photos if that would help.

Waters House is a lovely property in a really peaceful location. The house is large, yet comfortingly cosy in the cold winter weather we experienced. We found the conservatory to be usable despite the low outside temperatures and a super suntrap. Very interesting locality. All the locals we encountered were really friendly and welcoming. Despite some "Beast from the East" weather difficulties we really enjoyed our brief immersion into Irish life. Love their lifestyle, culture, history, and the future looks good, too, with continued EU membership. Envious.

Perfect location for a 10 minute walk to the beach. Being aware there is a rocky path but no problem if you have no walking difficulties. We watched beautiful sunsets nearly every night from the comfort of the conservatory. Well stocked kitchen , a warm fire awaited with plenty of coal & wood to keep us going although with the central heating we personally didn’t need the extra heat! A local shop where we stocked up twice only 10 minutes away. The lady owner was there to greet us at 20.30 on arrival other than the friendly wave we were not bothered. I would recommend this house & location to anyone it was most memorable.

  • "The house is in the most spectacular setting right on the coast."

I watched the sun come up every morning except for one (when it was very foggy) and the sun set each evening. Real peace and quiet and fantastic starry sky at night. The beach is only a short stroll down but the approach is a bit scary due to the cliff erosion. We chose to drive round to a little bay and access the beach from there. It could easily be walked also, along lanes in either direction. The coastal path in Ireland is not like the coastal path here at home! We booked thinking it was excellent value for money - which it is. It appears the base price is on the up, so though we'd happily go back and pay more, feel the kitchen equipment ought to be of better quality and with a few basic extras added. (could send a list if requested). Also felt they were a bit mean with towels and bed linen. Of the three bedrooms only one had been made up for us so we were compelled to use that one. The pillows are very thin and cheap, and need to have pillow covers (protectors) as well as a case. We were told the garden is enclosed but it isn't, to warn future dog owners. The above are just silly niggles as we had a marvellous holiday. Loved every minute and would go again tomorrow if we could. Joanne the owner is very sweet - as is her teeny tiny dog!
