  • "I found the Coach House to be a very clean and well appointed property, set in a quiet cul-de-sac, with ample parking in front of the garage door for one large car."

    It was very comfortable. The main bedroom and the attached en-suite bathroom were of a particularly high standard. I do like a good shower, and the En-suite definitely has a very good shower! The kitchen was very well equipped and spacious. I believe the property has been recently refurbished and it shows. Everywhere is clean and smart, and I would most definitely recommend the Coach House to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in South Devon. It is particularly well suited for the coast from Salcombe to Plymouth. I would definitely stay there again.

  • "Really lovely holiday home, so clean and comfortable, the 2nd bedroom would benefit from twin beds rather than a double though as it’s great for families with little ones but a bit small for 2 teens sharing, ( we had limited choice because of lockdown etc) all the same it is a wonderful place to stay, felt brand new and in a perfect location for exploring all surrounding areas."

  • "The Coach House is on a small development of houses a short walk from the village."

    It is very quiet and comfortable for a couple or family with one child but would not advise for 2 couples as 2nd bedroom is small and has no storage. Ideally positioned for walking lots of the best parts of the SW Coast Path and visiting lovely beaches of Bantham and Bigbury on Sea.

  • "The booking process was easy and regular emails ensured we had the relevant information when it was necessary."

    The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed and plenty of space to spread out. It was a cosy home to come back to after a day out, especially when the weather wasn’t really on our side! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cottage or Sykes holidays to others.

  • "We had a fantastic time staying at the Coach House."

    The house is located in a lovely village with a brilliant playground for the kids, and is close to some beautiful beaches. The house was very clean, with good facilities and friendly neighbours. It’s clearly a very loved house and it felt home from home. A clothes horse would have been useful but that may have been removed due to Covid-19. Everything was set up to protect against Covid-19, and it felt safe from that point of view. Other than the wonderful beaches, we would recommend the National Aquarium in Plymouth for a rainy day, and the Woodlands Theme Park which is perfect for kids from about 4 to 14. This is the fourth house we have rented from Sykes Cottages, and all 4 have been an exceptional standard.

    Food waste was not allowed in the black bin but where should it go? I ended up taking a big bag of tins, bottles, plastic containers, foil & fruit peelings home to dispose of properly.

Resting down a quiet cul-de-sac in the unspoiled village of Aveton Gifford, is this delightfully presented, detached cottage.

Housing a contemporary interior with enough space for a family of four, The Coach House welcomes those wanting to explore the attractions of South Devon with a comfortable residence to return to at the end of your day.

Set in a reverse level layout, on the ground floor you will find the fitted kitchen, appointed modern appliances so you can easily prepare those sumptuous meals, whilst the sitting room rests upstairs, offering a comfortable setup with a plush settee and two armchairs to sink into, along with an electric fire and TV to provide the entertainment.

Moving through the upstairs will bring you to the bedrooms, including the master king-size with en-suite shower room and a double which is suitable for younger guests.

To the outside is an enclosed courtyard where you can enjoy the summer sunshine at any time of day from the south-facing position.

The idyllic village of Aveton Gifford offers a community shop for picking up the essentials and the Fisherman’s Rest pub which serves food – convenient if you don’t fancy cooking one evening.

For a greater selection of amenities, take a short drive to the towns of Kingsbridge or Ivybridge, each promising to be a lovely day out.

For the more active, there are a network of walks and cycle paths to be explored throughout the Dartmoor National Park, or head to the nearby beaches of Bantham and Bigbury-on-Sea for ample surfing opportunities.
