    The location was great! The home was extremely clean with all the amenities we could ever need. There were directions for everything, and the neighbor was at hand to offer any assistance we needed! The beds were really comfy and the lounge was very relaxing. The garden is delightful and the fresh scones a really lovely touch - THANK YOU!

  • "Fantastic property set in the ideal spot."

    All amenities to hand in the village. Great restaurants and a pub at the end of the lane. The property was well equipped and spacious. Very comfy beds. Two modern bathrooms and a separate toilet. The cream tea on arrival was much appreciated. The owner’s representative, Lindsay, who was lovely, on hand if any problems. We enjoyed our stay so much we didn’t want to leave. No hesitation in recommending this property.

  • "5 star accomodation in a beautiful, peaceful location."

    Everything was there that we needed and clear instructions. The property is within walking distance to the village shops, chip shop and pubs. We visited the Quarrymans Rest just down the road, for drinks outside and found the locals very friendly. Tiverton about 15 minutes away for main Supermarkets and other takeaways. Excellent wi-fi for those that need it. The property was clean, but needed a bit more attention around the skirtings and ceilings which we dealt with. Only had one issue which we mentioned to Lindsey, was that somebody had been smoking in the single room which smelt bad when we arrived, and a cigarette end was found on the carpet, such a shame that some people break the house rules and spoil it for others, luckily it was a beautiful week so the windows were open and air fresheners bought. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend it, and would love to come back some day.

    The setting of the cottage is exceptional with wonderful views and the village is charming and full of interest. We were impressed that the owner's representative called in at the beginning of our stay to ensure that we had everything that we needed, to suggest local facilities to visit and to invite us to contact her if a problem arose

  • "This is a really well-appointed cottage in a lovely peaceful setting - enjoyed the daily visits from the pheasants."

    This was our first self-catering holiday over the Christmas period and we had everything we needed to cater for the family. The layout was perfect for older relatives with mobility challenges and we were all very comfortable. We were really impressed by the facilities and the very helpful guide to using all the kitchen equipment, etc. The mezzanine level gave our teen his own space. Bampton is a pretty village with all the shops you need during your stay. We walked from the house each day and enjoyed the views from the Norman motte and bailey. It is a good location to explore more of Exmoor. Thank you to Lindsay for the warm welcome and for the Christmas treats.

  • "Pros: Lovely area to holiday in."

    Nice welcome with cream tea, and flowers. Bathmat required for shower and this was provided speedily. Plenty of kitchen equipment and good file of instructions on how to work things throughout house. Good maps and books provided. Cons: Main bathroom toilet flush still not working properly and toilet seat slips. No towel left in small toilet. Cleaner left drink bottle on hall table. Deep clean leaves a lot to be desired ie cobwebs on lounge light, dust in several areas, floor needs good wash. When we started cleaning the vacuum did not work; we changed bag and unblocked pipe which solved problem but shouldn't have needed to do this.

  • "Accomodation was better than expected."

    Yes, it was clean and comfortable but was extremely well-equipped. For example there was a hair-drier in all three bedrooms. The bungalow was also well set back from the small road which was a pleasant surprise as one of the pictures on the website didn't give this impression. The scones, cream and jam together with a pint of milk were a nice touch. Loved the option to select the large shower head in the bathrooms. Our only minor gripe was that as there were three of us, watching a DVD on the television on the mezzanine meant it was not easy to hear the TV downstairs if there was a clash of viewing.

    Perfect tranquil private location yet steps away from the excellent amenities in the village. Lovely welcome of flowers and scones. Local resident Lindsey popped in on our first day and gave us wonderful advice on where to visit. Great location to explore all the delights of Exmoor and the coast.

  • "The accommodation was brilliant."

    Everything we needed was available. Just a note to say that the hanging lights were too low for my husband & son who are over 6ft tall; they kept hitting their head on the lamps. Also a colander would be nice to have. And the toilet flush in the main bathroom was not working properly. Small points that in no way spoilt our holiday. Scones and cream with jam was a lovely welcome and much appreciated. All in all Ab Fab

  • "We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Woodwaye."

    The house was super clean with recently refurbished bath and shower rooms, the sitting room and bedrooms were spacious and well furnished and the kitchen had every untensil and equipment you would need. The garden although small had a bbq,a picnic table and parasol and the most entertaining of all a bird table which brought in a large variety of birds bathing and drinking. The only negative we had was there weren't any sun loungers or garden chairs in the garden and that would be a positive especially for visitors in the summer months. Woodwaye is in the village with everything a very short walk from the house, there's a pub on the corner of the road then further along the road there is a convenience shop a butcher a green grocers and a bakers we can recommend all of them. Further along the village is a chemist and another general shop, another pub and 2 hotels. we found the villagers very friendly and very covid safe all wearing masks. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

  • "We paid for seven nights because we were unable to get a four night booking."

    We did in fact leave after four nights because lockdown was announced during our stay and we wanted to get home, otherwise we may have stayed longer. The property was as described. It has been refurbished very recently by the looks of it and to a high standard. There were a few items of pre-refurbishment furniture which were a little at odds with the new modern decor. The bathrooms were fantastic. The bungalow is just up the hill from a local pub and next to a field of cows, with rabbits and pheasants in the wooded area to the side and back. It was idyllic and a couple of minutes walk into Bampton. The cottage was very well equipped and the heating and hot water were very efficient. Bampton is a lovely little town with pubs, cafes, more than enough shops to get what you would need for a stay. My only suggestion would be for the owner to buy a much bigger door mat inside the hall - otherwise the lovely brand new floor is going to get grubby! It was certainly the best self catering accommodation we've stayed in for a long time.

Alas, the COVID 19 restrictions of 2020 resulted in severe delays to manufacturers' delivery schedules; as a consequence, the new settees for the lounge were not available for you despite being ordered months in advance of our opening. We have our fingers crossed that the new furniture will be in place for December 2020.  And a much bigger doormat is on order! Property Owner

Bampton is a wonderfully peaceful Devon village situated in a wooded valley on the banks of the River Batherm, a tributary of the River Exe, close to the Exmoor National Park. Bampton offers lovely Georgian cottages and houses, a good range of shops and is famous for its floral displays, pony fair and folk festival. The towns of Dulverton and Tiverton are close by and offer plenty of amenities, plus there are many country pursuits on offer in this rural area, including fishing on the two reservoirs at Wimbleball and Clatworthy, Exmoor safaris through dramatic windswept moors, walking the Exe Valley Way, horseriding across the moor and cycling along the Lowman Way.
