  • "A lovely lodge in a great location straight off the A39 which we liked rather than having to travel along country lanes to get to your accommodation."

Lots to do locally - Minehead, Dunster & Watchet being the closest all within 15 minutes. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, the beds comfy, and the hot tub was great (checked daily). The kitchen was very well equipped and good wifi. We had a great holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

  • "We have just arrived home after staying at Elm Lodge for a week."

The lodge is a lovely size, big open plan kitchen, living and dining area. The kitchen very well equipped and the whole lodge very comfortable and spotlessly clean and no expense spared with the quality of the furniture. The garden is very private and enclosed with a hot tub and garden furniture under cover. The hot tub was ready for us as soon as we arrived, it was also serviced everyday. The only reason I have given it 4 stars and not 5 is because to walk into the village was a little further than we thought and along a main road for mot part, so it is a reflection on its location and not the lodge. I can definitely recommend the lodge. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Beautiful to look at, clean and well maintained and came with everything you need for a week away. The hot tub was the icing on the cake !! Sitting there in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down whilst listening to nature was just so perfect and relaxing. I would 100% recommend Elm lodge to anyone wanting to visit Somerset.

  • "Had a wonderful stay at Elm lodge in the middle of July, the cottage itself is in perfect condition, very new, and all spotlessly clean."

It has been fitted out with a Very large smart TV with excellent Wi-Fi , so kids can watch Netflix, You Tube etc. also has a large Fridge & cooker. The lodge is in a very quiet location other than the noise of wildlife from Tropiquaria ( a must visit) which supplied us with wonderful Gibbon whooping noises and peacock calls . The hot tub was great, well managed & clean, it was a bit hot for us so we asked to turn the temperature down a bit. It also benefits being undercover so even a bit of rain didn’t stop the fun. The whole park gave the impression of being expertly run, with the emphasis on keeping things clean and tidy & quiet, which was much appreciated.

  • "The lodge is 2nd to none, absolutely brilliant I'm sure we will be back, the location, cleanliness and facilities are awesome, there are homely touches not always found in other lodges."

The owners have very clearly aimed for luxury furnishing and have succeeded. This has resulted in my 'ONLY' complaint. The mattress in the double room (which is memory foam) needs addressing as there is a considerable mount in the middle. Please do not let this put you off booking however as the effort put into these lodges and cottages are quite remarkable, the enclosed back garden and hot tub with the great view is wonderful, thanks for a fantastic base for a fantastic holiday.

  • "Elm Lodge was presented lovely, nice and clean with mostly all that we would need for our visit, with the lodge being easy to find with the instructions given."

We did find it a bit overkill that so many items had 'Shells Cottages' written on them, and the list of inventory items on each door, with another one in the information packet felt a little bit overkill. We did feel that the information pack focused far more on safety then local information, perhaps this could be adapted into a Safety Folder and Local Information? Like know where the closest small supermarkets are, recommendations for local pubs and attractions would not go amiss if you are not familiar with the are and looking for things to do. These are just some small comments that we feel would improve what is already a lovely place with great opportunity to be perfect!

  • "Elm lodge was brilliant."

Everything catered for and spotlessly clean. Lloyd saw us arrive and opened up for us. We asked how the lodges came to be. He built them! Amazing. You could not help but be impressed. He was interesting and very helpful. Especially using hotub as never used one before! What fun and thoroughly enjoyable. For us personally wish had taken 2 swimsuits. Once was never enough!!! Wanted to go in again! Very quiet maybe the odd gibbon noise from the zoo but don't you think that creates a memory. Certainly not offputting did not detract from a lovely lovely stay. In fact nothing would ever put us off. Location central so easy to find everywhere. Hope to go again. Sad to go

  • "Our family had an amazing week at the lodge."

The lodge was sparkling clean on arrival and the kitchen was very well equipped. We absolutely loved the open fire in the evening and a welcoming hot tub. The view from the lodge is amazing and we could also enjoy our breakfast outside. There are a few perks like a close proximity of a small zoo you can visit, lovely cider farm and also a very short drive to Minehead and Dunster Castle. We would recommend staying at that lodge and will definitely come back one day.

  • "Well presented property with very good furnishing standards as described."

Owner extremely prompt to resolve any issue. Unfortunately the listing fails to mention or show in any available photograph, that the property is located at a short distance from a roundabout and a busy and noisy main road, and that faces tall radio masts with red lights on at night that spoil the view and the sky. Bedding and quilt quality also needs improving to match costs.

Thank you for your feedback. We do take all feedback very seriously Your comments and scores are very out of character for the property as the feedback is usually positive with high scores. Thanks for speaking to me over the weekend. The owner is delighted that you enjoyed your stay and would visit again. Elm Lodge isn't isolated. Its on a site with other properties that are holiday lets. Previous customers have commented how quiet it is at the property during their holidays. We do show that there is a radio mast in some of the photos on the website. We also show the location of the property in the form of a map which shows the exact roads its situated on and the roundabout that you mentioned on the description. If Customers have any queries about the location or anything else, we can answer these before booking takes place in our Reservations team. We want all our Customers to have a great stay and if there are any issues owners need to know during the holiday so these can be put right. We haven't had any feedback about the bedding and quilts before. These are of a high standard and match the rating of the lodge. Once again, thank you for your comments Property Owner

  • "Beautiful lodge on small quiet and relaxing site."

Desperately needed a break after a very stressful time. Staying in this scenic part of the country in this well presented and comfortable accommodation certainly was the best medicine. The hot tub was also a special daily treat, easing aches and pains after all our walking, and a lovely relaxing end to the day. We slept so well - very comfortable bed. The lodge is so well equipped. The owner Lloyd, is very approachable and obviously passionate about the lodges he designed and built himself. Well done and a huge thank you to Lloyd, Lynn and the team at “Shells”, and also to ‘Sykes’ for introducing them to us. We would like to say that we’d always recommend this lodge, but selfishly would like to keep it our special secret!

  • "We stayed at Elm Lodge and had a very enjoyable 4 days."

On entering the cottage, it was warm and had a lovely smell of woody, spa-like tones. The place was absolutely spotless and clean. The beds were a tad on the soft side for us but nevertheless very comfortable and we slept very well. The decor is absolutely lovely and you could see alot of thought had been into kitting out the cottage to make it feel homely. The sofas are very comfortable and the layout of the coffee tables was very functional. We felt completely at ease and relaxed. The bathroom was a wet room with toilet and basin and a large towel rail. The shower had two heads, a soaker and a normal shower head and the whole shower experience was great. Hot water, good pressure. The kitchen is good with plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery, pots and pans and ovenware. It has a dishwasher too and dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, jaycloth and tea towels were all provided as well as some milk left in the fridge and tea and coffee for our arrival. There are DVD's, a large TV, books and game console. Wood, firelighters and kindling all provided for the wood burner. We didn't use it as the heating worked so well we didn't need it. The hot tub was fantastic, it is situated in the garden secluded from other cottages. It looks out onto the fields. The only shame about the view was the two large radio antennas situated in the next field. They are quite far away but I could imagine how perfect the landscape would be if they weren't in view. Simply put, we would definitely return and would definitely recommend to others.
