  • "Beautifully cared for property with the convenience of only being 10mins downhill to the main shopping area."

Home from home with all you need. Bedrooms were spacious with 2nd floor bedroom having an ensuite. Word of warning, if you're tall, watch you head on sloped ceiling at top of stairs as you go into that top room but once in, it's full height. Sofa in living room needs an update but maybe that's personal preference due to back issues. That said there are a couple of chairs. As 3 couples with 3 cars we had to put the 2 smaller cars on driveway and our larger car on road blocking them. Parking is possible along road but first come first served and it's busy. Spar shop a couple of doors down was especially handy. Lovely back garden to sit in if sun is shining although garden furniture were 2 wooden benches and a wooden table with attached bench chairs. That said, we were out most of the time. Walking back to the place allowed us to burn off all those calories we'd eaten and drank in town. There were several options for getting back which included 'short and very steep', 'long and winding' or a mixture. I would definitely recommend the place and even go back.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely garden. Lots of games to keep the kids entertained. Our only criticism is that the standard double bed in the master bedroom was smaller than what we're used to.

  • "The property- lived up to what was advertised."

Its equipment was modern and all worked beautifully. The property was clean and comfortable and easy to maintain. What was so lovely, it was so quiet and peaceful and we spent many hours in the lovely garden. Camar was ideal for using the coastal path westwards to Hope and on towards Plymouth. The coast route toward Dartmouth was interesting with some lovely beaches, particularly at Blackpool. There are so many interesting places and sights to see in the area. It was always nice to return to the lovely Camar at the end of the day.

  • "Clean, comfortable and well equipped."

It was perfect for our family holiday. Myself, my husband and son had the bedrooms on the first floor and my brother used the top floor en-suite room with the fabulous view. Having a back gate and large garden was brilliant for bringing the kayak and beach equipment in after a long sunny day. We ate our dinner most nights in the garden. Having a parking space was great and we parked the other car in front which worked well. It is a long steep walk back up from the harbour (especially for an 8 year old) but on occasions we got the bus (if you get off at the Beadon Crossroads, it’s a 5 minute walk downhill to the property). There is an excellent play park, wood and sports field about a 5 minute walk further uphill. We also had a drink in the rugby club bar a couple of nights and made to feel very welcome. We have already booked for next year!

  • "A wonderful stay in a wonderful property."

Clean, spacious and very well equipped. Lovely garden to enjoy. Only feedback is that the mattresses could be more comfortable. Beautiful views and only a 10-15mins walk into the centre - but beware of the very steep walk home if you are less mobile!

  • "Lovely house which was well equipped & in a good location."

Glad we had parking as one car park closed in Salcombe. Needed to be fit as the climb up from the quay & sea front was very steep. Good garden, family friendly. Would be better if recycling was collected from the property rather than having to take it to a recycling centre.

  • "Comfortable house in residential area of Salcombe."

Kitchen superb in every way. Everything worked/functioned as it should. Only disappointing parts were the rather uncomfortable sofas in the lounge and the poor quality mattress on the double bed which meant you both keep rolling into the middle of the bed!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We were pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay here at Camar. We were only sorry that you found the sofa and mattresses uncomfortable. Although this is a matter of personal preference, we recognise that this is so important when booking a getaway and therefore, we will be sure to pass on your comments to the owner. We hope you still thoroughly enjoyed Salcombe, its stunning views and choice of amenities and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "This was the second time this year we have stayed at Camar."

It is a very comfortable, well appointed house with lovely views of the estuary from the top bedroom. The garden is beautiful with seats thoughtfully placed to catch the sun throughout the day and a wonderful place to sit and relax after climbing back up the hill at the end of the day. We shall be back again next year!

Thank you for leaving us your comments. We were delighted to read that your return to Salcombe was lovely and that the property exceeded your expectations again. We very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely homely comfortable house."

Very clean, and very well appointed. I’d happily return to it. The only draw back was the very steep walk to the town, or rather the return up the hill. Once a day was enough.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were really pleased to read that the property was presented to a high standard upon your arrival, our housekeeping team work really hard to ensure this standard is maintained. We were sorry you found the return up the hill somewhat inconvenient, unfortunately due to the nature of Salcombe town, several of our properties are situated up hills. We hope that despite this, you had a lovely stay and we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "Camar is a brilliant house."

It's incredibly well equipped for a holiday home, very clean, and the view from the top floor is beautiful. The walk into town is short but steep, although that didn't bother us. There is also a kids play park on the way into town if you have little ones that need a pit stop! I would definitely return and have recommended it to friends.

  • "Lovely location."

Great to have parking. It was a bit unclear what to do with all the recycling, the instructions only mentioned taking glass to the bottle bank but not what to do with everything else. The rooms were quite hot, it would help to have more ventilation in the loft and more of a blackout curtain in the front rooms. Could do with a few more cereal bowls as they have a few kids bowls and then pasta bowls. Other than this the cottage met all our needs. Garden was lovely and nicely maintained.

  • "We were delighted with the house and garden even though Covid 19 regulations had affected our using the property into which we had first booked (The Hoot), at the last minute."

We have stayed in various properties in Salcombe over many years and would not normally have chosen one so high up. May we suggest that your listing makes it clear to those who are less familiar with the topography that whilst a fit person can probably descend to the town in ten minutes, walking back up can be a more tiring and longer experience, even for a relatively fit person.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We were terribly sorry to read that you found the return up the hill tiresome. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the town, several of our properties are situated at the top of these hills. Please be assured that the property’s description has been updated to reflect this however we hope that this did not detract from what is a beautiful week in Salcombe.
