The property

Along a no through lane 800 yards from the quay in Salcombe is this split level detached house.

With brilliant views over the water and popular town, it is spacious and light accommodation in which to relax.

Leave your coats and boots in the big hall, then head through to the sitting room with its dining area and glass doors you can open to balconies to enjoy the splendid views.

The kitchen is smart and well equipped, and you will find two handy en suite bedrooms on this level.

Follow the stairs down to a second sitting room which doubles as a den for the children, with its toys and TV, and this room opens to the garden through French windows.

A little kitchenette adjoining is a practical bonus, and there are two more en suite bedrooms down here too.

Outside you have an enclosed garden all around the house, rambling over various levels and offering a patio with barbecue for alfresco meals and a lawn to stretch out on in the sun.

There’s space outside for parking your boat too, handy for this nautical town.

Wander down to the waterside pubs or to explore the tempting little shops, or maybe hire a boat to explore the waterways.

You can go fishing, play tennis, swim in the seasonal outdoor pool, walk the Coast Path, or take the ferry across to pretty East Portlemouth.

Of course, for seaside fun there are lovely sandy beaches all around, or soak up the peace in stunning National Trust gardens.

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
