"Simply a 5 star holiday."
Lovely view, beautiful walks and super accommodation.
"A very clean and tidy place to stay."
Yes, the roads are extremely narrow but what do you expect if you want peace and quiet in Devon? (And it does warn you on the listing page!) but please don’t let that put you off! We walked various walks from the bungalow (helpful information in the folder, and maps) and along the coast path. Stunning views, watched seals in places, beautiful birds and butterflies in huge numbers! A great holiday
"Very nice place to stay, clean and very, very well equipped."
Very peaceful location, no noise, very peaceful Devon countryside. Lovely large garden. Lovely views. Our only suggestion is reminder is placed for tenants to catch the rubbish and re-cycling collections on Wednesdays. The tenants before us missed this, and we too forgot. Although this info is contained in the excellent, lengthy guide in the cottage, inevitably we forgot re the re-cycling day. A beautifully presented accommodation, perfect for combined family holiday ... we were 4 adults and 2 youngsters - 10 and 14. Expensive? Yes, but these days you get what you pay for! Decent, caring owners.
"Smashing holiday home!"
Comfortable ,clean and smells nice when you walk through the front door! Everything you need like home from home.Nice personal touches.Waking up to just the sound of birds ,the odd cow and sheep! Perfect! Lovely walks and beautiful beach at Lannacombe. Would definitely return. The nicest surroundings that we have stayed in! Thank you!
"Orchard View is a lovely secluded bungalow in a beautiful countryside setting ..."
Orchard View is a lovely secluded bungalow in a beautiful countryside setting We enjoyed the coast path walks and both Lanacombe and Slapton Sands beaches but the best beach we found was Bigbury on sea We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again soon Thank you Sarah and Anthony for your advice on walks and places to eat The wine and biscuits were well received too, thank you
"Thank you for the phone calls, the wine and the biscuits!"
We had a wonderful stay, the weather was incredible and it was a chore to leave ❤️
"Great Devon get away!"
"An excellently maintained and equipped property, there is nothing i can think of that we found wanting."
The views of countryside and the heavens lovely, its quiet location much appreciated, it felt right, from the moment we stepped through the door. The attention to detail from the owners, e.g. their phone call on the first night shows they want you to enjoy the time there. A very good holiday
"Orchard Cottage was such a lovely comfortable cottage in an excellent location, apart from the little narrow roads to gain access, but after a few attempts to pass oncoming cars, it became a doddle."
The cottage was cosy and had all the items you would need for a self catering holiday. All the rooms were comfortable and the garden was well kept and looked after and a perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard days expeditions to various locations in Devon & Cornwall. There was so much to do in the area and we even ventured as far as Tintagel Castle in Cornwall which was about a two hour drive, but well worth it. Lannacome beach was within walking distance and the coastal path to Start Point lighthouse was an exceptional walk with beautiful scenery following the coast. The cottage was within easy reach of Plymouth, Dartmoor, Bodmin and many other locations, we just run out of time, but it was nice to come back to the cottage at nights. Thank you to Sarah (The owner) for keeping in touch with us and looking after us and to ensure we were very comfortable in her property. Loved the place and would love to come back again in the future.
"Cottage is really lovely and decorated to a very high standard."
It’s situated in a very peaceful and stunning location. The steps down to the cottage are a little awkward and steep. The lack of hand rail might be a problem for some. Also at night there is no night light on the steps, so make sure you take a torch to navigate safely to the front door from the car parking space. Some items in the cottage could be a little cleaner such as the fridge freezer but we visited at the end of the high season so I expect this will be taken care of in the down season. Other wise it’s a fabulous place to spend a week away, fantastic location near to all the fabulous beaches, walks and views that part of the world has to offer. Would stay here again.
"We had a fabulous week at Orchard View."
The bungalow was immaculate, very comfortable, fully equipped and felt very homely. The peace and quiet was lovely with virtually no audible traffic on the very quiet roads. Just the birdsong every morning, combine harvesters in the distance and gentle sounds of rural Devon. We felt remote from everything which was lovely. We walked or ran to the beach every day and enjoyed amazing swims from the beautiful, sheltered sandy cove. It's a very special spot and the owner could not have been more helpful.
"Nice holiday cottage in a quit and beautiful environment."
"Lovely location, great for walking, never seen so many birds in fact we replenished the bird feeders twice daily."
You do have to get used to the narrow lanes, other than that excellent. Even has table tennis in the garage.
"Absolutely perfect relaxing, refreshing holiday."
Thanks John and Denise
"Beautiful bungalow, spotlessly clean, lovely comfy beds."
Great base to explore beautiful Devon.Home from home. Only thing l would say this property would not suit an inexperienced or nervous driver, due to the single track lanes.
"A lovely well equipped house in a beautiful quiet location, with some excellent walks and great beaches all close by."
Would willingly return for another holiday
"We absolutely loved the bungalow it was ideal for us with small children."
It had everything that you could possibly need and more. It really was a great holiday and base to explore Devon.
"We had an excellent stay and particularly enjoyed the garden with lots of birds, and the very peaceful village."
There was easy parking and good access to many coastal walks
"Thankyou Anthony and Sarah ."
Accomodation was soooo comfortable with an eye for interiir design. Everything you need. Perfect location for exploring around Dartmouth and Salcome. The table tennis in the garage was our late night treat. Perfect .
"Lovely bungalow, close to beaches, but, not for the faint hearted with the narrow single track roads leading to them."
Had many rude locals saying we shouldn’t be there when meeting on such roads!!! Nice relaxing setting.
"We had a great stay at Orchard View."
A great location in beautiful countryside with plenty of beaches, coves and coastal walks. The bungalow is well decked out and really comfortable. Would highly recommend.
"Such a beautiful spot and close to all the beaches."
We found the bungalow so relaxing and comfortable.
"As a family we had an amazing time at Orchard View and really felt like at home."
Lovely bungalow, fully equipped kitchen with anything you may need, some games&books and other bits to entertain children, very comfortable beds, modern bathroom, beautiful views &surrounding areas. Nice, quiet and peaceful little village with a good connection to the local beach, star light, farm& organic food shops etc. Also plenty of nice places to visit in South Devon, we most loved Salcombe, Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands. Driving through the tiny roads can be a mission but you get used to it quickly so it becomes exciting :) Very nice and helpful owners who really care about the well-being of the visitors.
"Lovely location, although parking and turning a challenge!"
Access not easily negotiated when carrying in cases and boxes. However, quiet and peaceful.
"Comfortable cottage in peaceful location."
Easy access to coastal path and beach.
"We stayed as 4 adults and 1 child."
The cottage was cozy, a great size and definitely value for money. The country views were amazing and we really enjoyed exploring the area - the cottage is is a great location to do this. We walked directly from the cottage to the nearest sandy beach at Lannacombe and also to Hallsands which we saw seals. I would recommend booking a pod at the Lobster Pod in Hope Cove for an exceptional experience and fantastic meal with the best sea views.
"Our stay at Orchard View was a real treat for us."
The bungalow is spacious, very well appointed and sits in an idilic location surrounded by natural beauty. The view across the valley is lovely and we enjoyed watching the resident Woodpecker! The stunning beach a Lannacombe Bay was just a 15 min walk and a lovely place to start a walk along the coastal path. We enjoyed watching the seals at Peartree Bay. An ideal place for a relaxing break and highly recommended.
"The owner of this property is obviously a generous person because practically everything you could want for a good holiday was provided."
For example the kitchen utensils are fully equipped (ok i didn't see a large fork but that was it). The smart TV is good. He provides a number of indoor games and table tennis in the garage should you want to play them. The shower in the bathroom is possibly the best i have ever used. Everything is comfortable We did have a problem with the glass window doors leading from the living room to the garden because once we opened them it took a great lot of effort to securely close them again and i think some instruction could be given to help others in the same situation. I would go back again and would recommend the bungalow to others.
"It was a beautiful bungalow ,scenery to die for ,and got the peace and quiet we needed ."
All facilities met a few minutes away and pubs in Slapton food really great .
"Beautiful setting very peaceful"
"Really lovely property."
Beautiful area. Friendly Host. Couldn't have been better. Thanks.
"The cottage had wonderful views cannot fault but there were issues the bathroom needs updating total makeover ."
Shower screen not curtain new shower also bathroom storage. The settee and chairs were worn, also better garden furniture needed for more comfort. We did enjoy our stay very quite location.
The Owners are delighted that you enjoyed the lovely views. The bathroom is being updated over winter. Property Owner
"We had a lovely holiday at this quiet, well equipped holiday cottage."
The welcome pack was much appreciated. The shower room had some small issues which the owners tell me is their next project to up grade. The private, safe and not overlooked garden was a bonus with an active 7yr old. The local beach, Lanacombe is a short walk down leafy lanes, good to spend a day there or for a pleasant evening stroll. The local honey, for sale just up the lane, and the free range eggs, down the lane were very handy too. We very much hope to be able to go back.
"The simple calm and quiet interior design and the beautiful views."
Wonderful secluded location and coastal walks nearby. A very well equipped cottage owned by friendly and attentive couple. Highly recommended.
"Loved the bungalow."
Decorated beautifully. Had everything we required. Comfy beds, immaculately clean. Just perfect! The welcome pack was very kind. Looking to return. Thank you.
"Fabulous bungalow with a well stocked kitchen and an unexpected welcome gift on arrival."
Gorgeous views across open countryside. I could have done with a bath to soak my aching bones from all the walking we did. Only a short walk to the wonderful beach and it is under the shade of trees which was very welcome as weather was very warm.

Note: Devon has more roads than any other county in the UK, and
as many of you have no doubt experienced, the majority of
its characterful byways amount to not much more than narrow,
winding backcountry lanes banked by thick hedgerows and with
a distinct absence of anything resembling road markings,
such are the joys of Devon lane driving!
