The property

The village of Beer was a finalist of the ‘Village of the Year’ in 2018.

It is a beautiful village for a holiday, with a beach, heritage sites, dramatic cliff tops and tranquil inland villages and countryside to explore. The village is an ideal base for keen walkers or a laid-back beach holiday with loved ones. Kephalo is a bright and airy, semi-detached cottage, located close to the heart of Beer, with the benefit of private parking, just a short walk from the beach: it’s in a prime location for either relaxation or an adventure. The ground floor has a delightful, sociable layout: a kitchen and dining area, where meals can be enjoyed around a large dining table, a spacious lounge with wood burning stove and a conservatory that overlooks the enclosed, terraced garden.

With one double bedroom downstairs next to a shower room and WC and three upstairs bedrooms, two doubles and a single, with a family bathroom, this property offers a versatile layout.

An enclosed, south facing, rear garden on a steep slope, has three level areas joined by steps: a lower raised lawn, a bbq terrace and an upper enclosed lawn with a furnished, unheated summer house, fitted with WiFi; bound to be a hit with teenagers or for an escape with a book.

A delightful, sun trap garden to be enjoyed with care on the steps and with children supervised.

The sheltered, pebble beach is Beer’s highlight; between Easter and October Half Term School Holiday, three beach cafes operate and beach huts, deck chairs and self-drive motor boats can be hired.

Fishing trips can be booked and there are great rock pools to explore at low tide.

The village has an array of shops selling both independent and commercial produce, a variety of restaurants to indulge in and tourist attractions including the Heritage Centre and the Marine House Art Gallery.

For a family day out, Pecorama boasts beautiful gardens and child-friendly activities, as well as being a top choice for the railway enthusiast.

Nearby Beer Quarry Caves are a fascinating trip back in time not to be missed.

Located within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a footpath connection to the South West Coastal Path, Kephalo is a great base for a walking adventure, whether along the coast or inland.

With paths along the coast and through wooded valleys, where there are hilltop and coastal views, the area offers some of the most breath-taking scenes in Devon. Beer is on The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, a coast of international geological importance.

Along the coast, in both Devon and Dorset, you can discover own fossils, take coast line cruises, hire kayaks and paddle boards, visit museums and a variety of family-friendly attractions.

Kephalo is a remarkable, spacious property, surrounded by places to explore or peace and tranquillity – you can choose which suits you.

It offers something for everyone and space for everyone.

About the location

Seaton 1.5 miles; Lyme Regis 9 miles; Sidmouth 9.5 miles; Exeter 25 miles.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a childrens' play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.
