  • "The Margaret’s was clean and very comfortable and an overall feeling of freshness."

We loved the decor especially in the sitting room, lots of sofa space, which made it spacious and light. Both bathrooms worked well with lots of hot water and were very clean. The family sized kitchen suited us, as we were six adults, giving us room around the table and a kitchen area that was perfectly adequate for producing meals. The best thing about The Margaret’s was the sunroom at the top of the garden, where we sat reading the papers, watching the sun rise over the roof tops. After our long journeys, we arrived to find a welcoming bottle of wine and a bouquet of fresh flowers- lovely touch!

  • "The Margarets is a beautiful property, located very close to the centre of Beer."

The lounge is tastefully decorated & very cosy to settle down in for the evenings. The double bed is very comfortable, something we rarely experience in other holiday homes. We loved sitting on the top tier in the garden, listening to music with a glass of wine. The parking space is tight as mentioned by others but I managed to park my estate car with a little effort. I would highly recommend this property to others.

  • "We were informed a few days before our stay about builders at the a joining property."

Whilst the builder was friendly and said he would work around us, we often had a lot of noise late afternoon 4pm till about 6pm when we had come back for a bit of a rest and snooze. This did spoil the piece and quiet we wanted on our stay at this time. Apart from this the Cottage was very comfortable and of good standard. The TV in the bedroom did not work properly though and the shower up stairs just trickled water - just needs a good cleaning. Beer is just how we imagined a lovely quiet fishing village with beautiful views across the sea.

Yes parking space is snug but I got my SUV in.

  • "We know Beer quite well and it is a perfect location for numerous coastal walks."

The cottage was lovely and delightfully decorated and was very clean. We had been warned about the small parking spot but parking was a little difficult when the party has more than one car and I expect it would be harder in the height of the season as parking throughout Beer is limited. Otherwise, everything was perfect

  • "Warm, clean, comfortable house, in a lovely village, ideal for exploring the east Devon/Dorset coast."

A lot of thought has been put into the planning and amenities to make the house and garden safe for young children and/or dogs. Although there is a parking space at the front of the property, we would have found it very difficult (too small/tight, and on a hill) to park if the neighbouring property had been occupied!

  • "We visited the property for a week in October and were pleasantly surprised."

After reading some of the previous reviews, we were slightly sceptical. However, we can certainly recommend this property. It’s not unclean like previously commented, in fact we felt it was quite the opposite. There were a few cobwebs around but it’s a cottage need we say more. Yes the TV doesn’t work in the master bedroom but this is a minor fault nothing which should detract away from you deciding to visit. The property has everything you need and we couldn’t find any faults. The parking space is directly outside but could be tight if you have a larger car. The location is set up a hill in a quite area. The village of Beer is very quaint and offers great picturesque walks to Branscombe and Seaton. The take away fish and chip shop is a must. Overall this is a property we would return to if visiting the area again and is worthy of 4 ticks.

About the location

BEER

Seaton 1.5 miles; Lyme Regis 9 miles; Sidmouth 9.5 miles; Exeter 25 miles.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a childrens' play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.
