  • "What a lovely cottage set in fabulous landscape."

The cottage was like home from home and had all that we needed for the stay - Our dog enjoyed the log fire - just the ticket after a days walking on the moor. Fantastic pub next door - great food, beer and chat.. Well done and thank you.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We'll pass your comments on to the pub too! Property Owner

  • "Flickery lights in lounge and dining room but dealt with immediately after fuse blew and blacked us out."

Disturbance from pub building works next door , unable to park by cottage. Sounds negative but we had a great stay and lovely location for walking. Beautifully renovated.

Thanks so much for your feedback. And our apologies once again regarding the lights. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back to Belstone again in the future. Property Owner

  • "On arrival the cottage was cold and damp, bedding and towels were also damp and all had to be aired before use."

There was a dirty mop and bucket in the porch, not a good first impression. Cleanliness was lacking very dusty and cob webs everywhere. The stair hand rail on the right side, still to be addressed. Wi-Fi access information out of date. No information about recycling of waste materials. On the plus side, a great rural settings with high quality fixtures and appliances in the cottage.

We are really sorry to hear this. The weather had been unseasonally warm so we had turned the heaters down, which possibly didn't help the situation. Now we know this, we will be turning the heating up. There are also full instructions in our welcome folder so guests can adjust the heating system too. Our previous guests made no reference to this so we hadn't felt the need to adjust the heating. We hadn't realised that the mop was dirty and this will be replaced. We leave a mop and bucket in the porch for those guests who stay with dogs and who may wish to tidy up after them, particularly if the weather is a little wet. We are very sorry to hear about the cleanliness, we have spoken to our cleaning company to ask that they be more vigilant. We fastened a handrail to the top left side of the staircase earlier this year following feedback from one of our guests. We also recently had a guest stay who made a point of commenting how much better it was with the additional handrail there. We weren't doing anything to the right hand rail nor are we proposing to do so. We recently changed broadband provider and placed a note in the guest folder about this and where to find the login details. We will check the folder just in case this information has been removed. All our waste is removed by our cleaner for a commercial waste collection. This is because the refuse collectors are unable to reverse up our lane to collect the rubbish and not all of our guests were happy to place the rubbish at the end of the road on a Tuesday. Thank you for ending your feedback on a positive note. We absolutely love our cottage as do our other guests. It's a traditional Dartmoor stone built cottage so we're happy to accept the occasional spider's web and a little damp to live somewhere which is cosy with a lovely wood burner, underfloor heating in the bathroom and the ability to adjust the radiators in the bedroom and lounge,, traditional in its style and in an incredible location. We always send a welcome email to guests prior to arrival so that they have information about the cottage and our email address. If there is ever a problem or a query, we are more than happy for guests to contact us direct preferably at the time of their stay so that we can address any problems.. Property Owner

  • "This cottage, at the heart of the Belstone village, was just as we expected."

One bedroom, very posh bathroom and cosy living room. Very clean. Everything that I would expect to find in the draws in my own home, was to be found there. Nothing was missing. And ofcourse the bottle of red wine and a box of chocolates were a nice surprise on a arrival. I would highly recommend this property.

Thank you for such lovely comments. We're so pleased you enjoyed the cottage and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "A really lovely cottage in a beautiful setting."

Church Cottage has everything you need and more for a comfortable holiday. A word of warning re coming down the stairs; there is no handrail for the first 3 steps - people with artificial joints might find them a little tricky. Take care. Welcome pack included wood & kindling for the wood burner, a bottle of wine and some chocolates

Thanks so much for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the cottage and surroundings. It is such a beautiful part of the world. That's really useful feedback regarding the staircase and we will look into adding a hand rail to the upper part of it. Thank you and we hope to see you again. Property Owner

High quality fixtures and fittings, well presented and very well equipped, although small this cottage feels spacious, cosy and is perfect for two, but go carefully on the stairs! Walking just a few yards down the road past the front of The Tors pub, an amazing view of Dartmoor opens up before you and invites you to explore further.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and the views of Dartmoor. It really is a beautiful part of the world! Hopefully we'll see you again. Tina & Simon Property Owner

  • "Just back from a fantastic week in Devon, a lovely presented cottage in the village of Belstone."

The cottage has all the amenities needed and lots of local information too, could not fault anything. The cottage has quite a steep staircase so just bear this in mind (maybe I'm just getting older), the shower was really nice, as was the bed, the kitchen is fully equipped, you can certainly tell the owners have taken their their time in the renovation. The village has a really good pub next door, with a good and varied menu, there is also a tearoom, which at the time was open Friday to Sunday. An ideal base to explore Dartmoor and Devon/Cornwall in general.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We really do appreciate it and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your time on Dartmoor - we love it! We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful village."

Very well equipped. Lovely fluffy towels. Comprehensive information provided by the owners about the surrounding area. North facing so really nice and cool which was great as we stayed here on the hottest week of the year. Pub and tea room within 2 minutes walk and a second pub and cafe only 30 minutes walk. Well placed for walks or drives further afield to National Trusts and even the coast if desired. All in all a lovely stay and we would recommend the cottage to others and would happily stay here again. Poor O2 phone signal in the cottage- some may see this as an advantage - but sorted by a 30 second walk! The broadband was excellent.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and the wonderful area, that is Dartmoor. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Fantastic base for walkers, we didn't use the car all week, and walked on the moor, and by the river, from the house every day."

No particularly special views from the house itself, but far-reaching views from 100 yards down the road (and benches from which to enjoy them too). Really quiet house - no through traffic or noise from the pub, no drone of traffic from the A30. Only the sheep having occasional conversations outside!! The house is tastefully furnished, really well-equipped and everything is top-quality. There is also plenty of storage space, even in the smallish kitchen. Personal email contact by the owners was warm, friendly and welcome. Good to see the website has been corrected to include the fridge-freezer. There was an excellent and comprehensive information folder and a generous 'welcome pack' (thank you). Small useful additions would be a milk jug, a soap dish, a rug in the living room and one or two nice pieces of art on the walls. Thanks for a fab holiday - we would love to book again in the future.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are glad that you had a lovely holiday. We've taken on board your comments and agree completely with your suggestions. The rug is already purchased, it will be in situ next week as will the other items you have suggested apart from the pictures - we're on the look out to support a local artist / photographer to add images of local scenes to the walls. Thank you so much again and we look forward to welcoming you back to the cottage in the future. Tina & Simon Property Owner
