This cosy end-terrace cottage is a short walk uphill from the centre of Bideford, a market town on the wide Torridge river estuary, three miles from the wonderful beach at Westward Ho!.
The cottage, which was once a merchant’s home, is packed full of character but has bright modern furnishings to provide guests with a comfy holiday home from home.
The quirky kitchen with exposed stone walls has everything required to prepare some tasty Devon produce, and is just down the narrow hallway from the sitting room/diner.
The sitting room is where everyone will love to gather, with exposed beams and a stone fireplace with gas fire, an ideal place for eating together and for relaxing in front of the telly on the deep comfy sofas.
On the first floor are two welcoming bedrooms and completing the accommodation is a shower room.
Apart from Westward Ho! beach, this area of Devon is renowned for a number of spectacular beaches, including Saunton Sands and Woolacombe, all of which provide fabulous opportunities for surfing, swimming and kite surfing.
Instow Beach is a lovely dog friendly beach just four miles away.
For a more relaxed day, visit the historic fishing village of Clovelly, which is perched on the hill overlooking the working harbour, and where donkeys are used to carry loads up the narrow, steep streets.
For walkers and cyclists, the Tarka Trail is perfect for bike rides with some lovely scenery to take in.
Fremington Quay offers a touch of history popular with dog walkers, cyclists, fishing enthusiasts and for crabbing and there is a good chance you will see wild seals, one of which has become a familiar face!
The Atlantic Village Shopping Centre is approximately two miles away, with over thirty five outlet stores, including popular brand names, restaurants, a major supermarket and family leisure park.
Also close by is The Big Sheep, an all-weather family attraction.
Stay here, and you will want to return to visit the beaches you missed the first time!
