  • "Pillhead cottage is a lovely, spacious & comfortable cottage with everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday."

It is well maintained, with beautiful views over the countryside and within easy reach of many small towns and attractions, making it a perfect location to be able to explore the locality. Definitely worth a visit.

  • "This would make a good stay for 5 people and their dogs."

A good location to explore the area. The owner responded to queries. The drive is in need of repair as there was a nasty rut that had to be missed when entering.

Thank you for your feedback. We are really glad that you liked the location of the cottage. I must apologise that the drive posed a problem to you but unfortunately between reopening post Covid and your visit we had some severe rains which created the problem and which temporary fixes failed to resolve. We are discussing this issue with our builder and will be seeking to secure a long term solution to the issue over our winter closure period. Property Owner

  • "Excellent amenities in the cottage, except that the boiler is very noisy in the early morning and wakes people up, and the washing machine gets far too hot."

Thank you for your feedback and your helpful comments which provide a guide for us to ascertain what work might need doing over the winter. We have investigated the boiler which is very reliable and identified an intermittent noise which we appreciate could be irritating. In view of the boilers age we have ordered a new one for installation over the winter and at the same time will use this as an opportunity to create a new shower room on the ground floor Property Owner

  • "Pillhead was absolutely perfect for our needs of taking two dogs and two teenage boys on holiday for a week."

Beautiful spot away from it all, but a close drive to Westward Ho! and Instow., and only 25 minutes to Croyde. We all loved the pool which really made the week for us. And it was so fantastic that the garden was dog safe and we didnt have to worry (once they got used to the sheep!). The owner Richard very friendly and around if you were to have any problems (we didnt). Highly recommend if you dont mind not being in the centre of the action and want they choice to dip in and out of the busier areas.

Thank you very much for your positive comments We are very pleased you enjoyed your holiday Property Owner

  • "It was advertised that the swimming pool was an outdoor heated swimming pool, which was a great part of the attraction as I had 2 children with me, but unfortunately the pool was not heated and the experience was not good for the kids and they used the pool once."

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy the swimming pool and as we are closely monitoring usage due to the need to clean the pool area between guests we were aware that you had only very briefly visited the pool area on your first full day. The pool is definitely heated although being outdoor the temperature varies significantly throughout the season and even within a few days. We do not advertise a temperature for this reason. Unfortunately your visit followed a prolonged period of heavy rain, high chilly winds and overcast days and as such the temperature would not have been as high as you might have liked although a number of other guests used their slots fully and were disappointed by the fact they could not have more. A very well kept cottage that has everything in it that you would need and more. Beautifully decorated and a joy to spend time in. The views from the cottage are outstanding and if peace and quiet is what you want then this is it. Although in the country you are not far from Bideford and Instow (the best place ever if you have a dog) and other lovely coastal resorts. The owners are very thoughtful people who even bake you cupcakes to welcome you to their cottage. As said before, a great cottage and area to holiday in.
