“Wonderful accommodation for a couple, with parking for car and cycles.”
Well kitted out and plenty of storage. Views and location perfect for those seeking get-away. Pubs and eateries abound, as do walks, cycle routes and scenic drives. Wildlife on the doorstep. Plymouth, Exeter, Tavistock and Launeston for rainy days. Highlight: Widecombe Fair. Owners on hand for local knowledge.- Mr Clarke, September 2019
“Beautiful location, fantastic cottage with its own tame grey squirrel and birds, secluded spot right on the moors with lovely walks, bed very comfortable.”
Simon and Jane (the owners) were delightful and provide a great package for anyone wanting a bit of seclusion but still easily accessible to the rest of Devon and Cornwall. Thoroughly recommended- Mr Bradley, July 2019
“Location is exceptional.”
It's at the far end of a small moor-edge village and a few minutes' walk will take you into the vast landscape of the wild moor, with Steeperton Tor miles ahead and Irishman's Wall running way off to the right over Belstone Tor. Equipment is adequate to good - for cooking there's a 2-ring ceramic hob and a combination microwave/grill. We got caught out with a part-baked baguette - no actual oven. Plenty of pots and pans - really only room for one to work; two is difficult. Bedroom and bathroom are large and comfortable. TV a little complicated to run but good once you work it out, and extremely good wifi using in-cottage hub. Mobile reception nonexistent for O2. Heating works well. Jane and Simon very friendly and helpful - they left scones with jam and cream, a pint of milk and 6 nice eggs for us! We had a lovely memorable week.- Mr Burmeister, May 2019
“Can't fault this lovely cottage.”
So many thoughtful touches. Simon and Jane set the bar very high with this wonderful facility.- Mrs Forman, May 2019
“We had a brilliant time, lovely location, plenty of walks, loved the woods surrounding the property.”
.- Mrs Crouch, January 2018
This little Devon retreat is a real gem, with a gate which opens directly onto the open moorland from its garden, you can park the car and enjoy quality time wandering the spectacular hills and tors of Dartmoor.
If you would like to venture further afield, there are two adult bicycles which can be hired, the perfect way to get half a mile down the lane to the pretty moorland village of Belstone with its pub and tea room.
The cottage is detached, close to the friendly owner’s handsome house in a large, well-ordered garden.
The open plan living space with cosy electric fire looks out to the moors and a good night's sleep is on the cards in the roomy double bedroom with its big bed and en suite bathroom for steamy soaks.
At the end of the day, relax in your little private garden and fire up the barbecue for some Devon steaks or fresh seafood.
Beyond Belstone village is the small town of Okehampton with plenty of amenities, including a heritage railway and cycle track.
This is a wonderful escape from the hurly burly.
