  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at Driftwood."

The house is generally well-equipped and the views are spectacular. The welcome pack was also a nice surprise. A couple of minor comments: some of the dining room chairs are in need of repair/replacement, and the kitchen needs a proper chopping board and oven gloves.

Thank you for advising us, our team will take a look at these small issues. We hope you enjoyed your stay. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "Driftwood is a very spacious clean and tidy property."

Very well stocked with basic household items / utensils required for our stay. The property is warm and cosy, bedrooms spacious and beds are comfortable. The decor is a little dated but did not negatively affect our stay in any way. Unfortunately we weren't able to make use of the outdoor space as the weather wasn't kind enough but would have loved to have been able to sit at the table and take in the spectacular view. On arrival we found a bag on the kitchen worktop packed with coffee, tea, biscuits and other local produce, with a little card attached to welcoming us - a really kind gesture which we loved! The local area is very hilly which can make walking difficult if you have any health issues, but for our group it was perfect - early morning walk down to the beach for a sea swim and then back up the hills worked up a breakfast appetite. I would recommend the property to family and friends looking for somewhere to stay in Charmouth.

  • "My wife and I have stayed at Driftwood three times this is because it has everything that we want, it is always clean, comfortable, ideally positioned with fabulous views yet close to the town facilities."

  • "This was our third stay at 'Driftwood' and we come back because of the stunning views, the quietness of the area and proximity to the sea."

However, the property itself is rather 'tired' and in need of some investment. There were several faults in evidence during our stay. One particular one is that the property brochure mentions a 'gas fire' yet there are no instructions to operate this fire, which does not appear to have been used for some time. The beds are OK but rather soft and yet again (this has happened on each visit) there was a wobbly & unsafe chair in the dining area. The TV has limited functionality (iPlayer does not work, for example) and really needs replacing. The house has a landline telephone with a repeater bell but no handset, so when it unexpectedly rang (twice) we were unable to answer it or silence the bell until the caller rang off. The bin collections are rather hit-and-miss, as they depend on a guest being present on the 'bin day' otherwise the bins do not get emptied. This is a lovely property and we will probably stay again, but it is slowly losing its appeal.

  • "Really lovely stay - very comfortable and well equipped, with stunning views and in a great location."

Would have been useful to have some basics in the kitchen e.g. salt, cooking oil, and there was also a gardener who spent around 7 hours at the property on one of the three days we were there, which we weren't told about in advance so were a little worried about security. Otherwise, we would highly recommend.

  • "Lovely property with fantastic views."

The only fault I could fin was thought the front door and surroundings could do with a makeover. Not very appealing on arrival . Property otherwise was perfect.

  • "Lovely property, immaculately clean if a bit dated in lounge and bedrooms."

The views are amazing, who needs a TV with views like that. Well positioned for visiting Lyme Regis, Burton Bradstock, West Bay, Axminster and Honiton. The tramway at Colyton is well worth a visit and not far to drive to. A lovely welcome pack too, will definately go to Driftwood again!!
