  • "This was a great place for us to stay, thank you!"

4 adults, 3 teenagers 1 dog & lots of mountain bikes! im afraid we did break I wine glass that we left on the side. we couldn’t find the travel mug for the coffee machine & only comment really would be that a cafetière would perhaps be more useful!! thanks again!

  • "The owners provided a very comprehensive welcome pack even including dog treats that our dog enjoyed."

The cottage was located in a quiet area which was just what we wanted. We know this area well and it is very close to a Dark Sky Area. On clear nights we could see more and brighter stars that we usually can which was special. The cottage was lovely and well equipped. It was clean warm and cosy! We had a lovely time.

  • "Lovely, quirky holiday cottage."

The welcome pack was much appreciated after travelling, with treats for our dog as well as us! Comfy beds, warm, spotlessly clean, and fresh flowers from the garden. There is a freezer which isn' t listed in the description. everything you need is provided, secure garden for dogs, although next door's little dog visits but is very friendly. There is a well-stocked shop at the garage just down the road at Wheddon Cross. So much to do, Dunkery Beacon is just up the lane behind the cottage, we saw a big herd of deer a bit further on from Dunkery. We will return!

  • "Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. It was a great base for getting around Exmoor. Beds were comfy and clean. Good internet although no phone reception, but that's phone networks in the countryside! Lovely cakes, wine and enough tea for a cuppa on arrival. Enjoyed the BBQ! Showers work well. Cottage is dark, but this had a cosy feel. Sykes doesn't list that there is a freezer, so ordered fresh foods only to find we could have got more frozen supplies. A few things that could have improved our stay were a few basic kitchen equipment (can opener, serving spoons, scissors, dust pan) and toilets didn't flush very well, especially the one in the upstairs bathroom as the flush handle kept coming apart. I'm sure this is a simple fix. Baths were a little dirty so gave them a quick clean before use. Dyson vacuum cleaner didn't work too well. Loved the neighbouring fields with sheep and the property is only a stone's throw from Dunkery Beacon. Plenty of games and a football table for if the weather is bad, but we were lucky to have a glorious week. Very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend.
