  • Mr Smith

“We have been renting holiday cottages in Dartmoor annually for nearly 30 years and this was the best presented we have ever stayed in.”

If there is any criticism some of the kitchen equipment is too modern and took us awhile to work out and the approach road is more suited to tractors than cars but then it is on a farm.

About the property

Nestled in the welcoming village of Bridestowe, on the fringes of Dartmoor National Park, is this beautiful farmhouse with a charismatic feel.

Perfect for family and friends looking to get away for a celebratory break or simply to spend time together; this cottage has four well-presented bedrooms and two gleaming bathrooms to suit your tastes.

Take a long hot soak in the claw-foot bath or wake up to a refreshing shower each morning.

The ground floor occupies a fully fitted and well-equipped kitchen with a fabulous AGA range cooker bringing warmth into the room.

There is even a bread maker and ice cream maker to keep the kids entertained on a quiet afternoon.

Lounge together in the sitting room beside the woodburning stove, on patterned sofas crowded around the coffee table.

Formal dinners can be enjoyed in the dining room next door, where another cosy woodburner rests within the stone inglenook.

Use the cinema room for watching movies and your favourite TV programmes, with a projector and Sky package just for you.

There is even a boot room at the rear with dog beds and towels, so you can bring your four-legged friends along to enjoy a doggy holiday of their own.

Outside, they have use of an enclosed paddock, with space to run around and shaded areas to cool off in.

So they are perfectly safe to leave behind if you need to pop out for the day.

Explore the gardens at the rear of the property, a patio area offers table and chairs for you to relax with a drink and up the higgledy-piggledy steps is a bright green lawn to wander at your leisure.

Soak in the luxurious hot tub of an evening and let all your worries slip away, amidst a peaceful countryside atmosphere.

Bridestowe has a charming village pub and a handy little shop; however, the lovely market town of Okehampton is easily reached by car.

Visit Okehampton Castle overlooking the wooded valley or the Roadford Reservoir offers watersports activities to those who fancy it.

There are many farm shops and country pubs in the surrounding area, not forgetting the beautiful rolling hills of Devon.

Dartmoor National Park boasts spectacular landscape walks and the delightful town of Launceston makes a lovely afternoon exploring the Devon-Cornwall border.

A fabulous getaway to be enjoyed the year-round.
