  • “Rose Cottage was very clean, ...”
Rose Cottage was very clean, comfortable and extremely warm and cosy. Such a perfect location just 2 minutes from the beach. Not sure the photographs or description do it justice.

The property

This superb, link-detached cottage sits in a splendid location overlooking Blue Anchor Bay, between the harbour village of Watchet and the resort of Minehead.

With wonderful views across the sea from the rear of this beautiful Blue Anchor cottage, as well as from its garden, and set just yards from the beach, this is the ideal setting for couples and families seeking a relaxing seaside getaway.

There is a modern kitchen as well as a dining room on the ground floor, a spacious sitting room with a large TV, two sofas and two large comfy chairs on the lower ground floor, along with two thoughtfully-furnished bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor of this welcoming Blue Anchor cottage.

The cottage garden is a particularly attractive feature of this Blue Anchor holiday home, with plenty of secluded seating on its sunny patio overlooking the bay towards the Bristol Channel, providing a perfect place to unwind in complete privacy.

With a seafront cafe just a 10-minute walk away, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll before enjoying a drink.

For those who enjoy longer walks, there are many to enjoy along the coast either east towards Watchet and its harbour or west towards the quaint medieval village of Dunster, where cobbled streets lined with cafes and gift shops sit in the shadow of its hilltop castle.

A short drive from your Blue Anchor cottage will take you to the popular town of Minehead where the golden beaches, harbour and promenade provide plenty of fun for all the family.

Or why not go further inland to explore the beautiful landscape of Exmoor, a walker’s wonderland with its abundance of deer, birds and gentle rivers flooding through the valleys?

About the location

Dunster 3 miles; Lynton 9 miles; Weston-Super-Mare 43 miles.

Blue Anchor is a small coastal hamlet in west Somerset, three miles from medieval Dunster. Well known for its alabaster rocks, which are of great geological interest, Blue Anchor is a quiet and peaceful seaside location with a wide beach, plentiful fossils and a promenade three quarters of a mile long with scenic views of Dunster Castle and Minehead Bay beyond. It offers peaceful relaxation, is popular with anglers who fish off the promenade, and is just a short steam train ride on the West Somerset Railway from Minehead. The Blue Anchor station waiting room and booking office have been lovingly restored, using Great Western fittings, many of them original, and the Railway Museum is housed in the former waiting room. Walk along the beach from Blue Anchor to Dunster, enjoying the views across the channel towards Wales, and wander through the medieval streets with the beautiful castle towering above. Inside the castle are fine plasterwork ceilings, while the extensive terraced and landscaped gardens contain many rare shrubs and trees, and offer marvellous views out to sea. Further afield, Minehead has golden sandy beaches, seaside attractions, and plenty of cafes, shops and bistros.
