  • "Our first Christmas away from home was a pleasure."

Eight of us from 1 to 90 years of age enjoyed our stay at Spring Barn immensely. It was clean, warm and well stocked with everything that we needed including a Christmas tree and a box of toys and catering for Christmas cooking was easy. Local restaurants were good and enjoyed many walks. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would be happy to rebook again

  • "I would highly recommend Spring Barn."

It was a comfortable, warm and beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed exploring the local area walking along the coastal foot paths. One other thing, it was an extremely well equipped barn. The kitchen had everything and more that we needed. We comfortably were able to cook and feed 10 of us.

  • "Overall, the property itself was as described and we greatly enjoyed our stay."

The futon room was the least comfortable. We would have appreciated clear guidelines about bed stripping - there was no mention of your expectations in the property guidelines (we stripped them down anyway). We got the impression from the details that the beach (Hope Cove) was closer and easier to access, however the walk, once achieved, was worth it. Bolberry is a tiny hamlet, but within easy reach of Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Burgh Island and Dartmoor.

  • "Excellent property."

Kitchen well appointed. Beds comfy. Our only extra need was a clothes airer as the weather wasn’t so good!

  • "The barn was superb, couldn't fault it at all, every possible thing was provided ,beautiful setting, the only downside was the washing line needs to be moved to the lower garden as there are a lot of steep steps up to the top terrace, and a hand rail would be very benificial to get up there."

  • "Lovely house and grounds in a lovely rural setting ."

Extremely well equipped and presented . We were warm and cosy from the central heating alone ….no need for the wood stove . Close to the coast with Hope Cove only 6 minutes away and the attractive town of Salcombe only a 10 minute drive . All in all a great place to stay and it made for a nice , different XMAS

  • "There was nowhere to hang clothes in 2 of the bedrooms."

The futon in the upstairs room would only be suitable for children.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. There are 3 bedrooms with full wardrobes and 2 with hanging space on the back of the door. Thank you for your comment regarding the futon, we do market this property as suitable for 8 adults and 2 children. We do hope you enjoyed your holiday and all the area has to offer. Property Owner

  • ". Beautiful place with plenty of outside areas the cottage/barn was very well equipped and furnished with good quality kitchenware, towels, bedding etc everything well thought out. Replacement cot sorted immediately"

. WiFi was somewhat intermittent, slight frustration when any party members were trying to work. Not fault of owners obviously

Thank you for your feedback. We are thrilled that you loved the property. Thank you for your comment regarding the WiFi, due to the nature of the area WiFi can be intermittent, however the owner has now installed a Tenda Mesh system which should solve any internet issues. We do hope that we can welcome you back to the area soon. • "Spring Barn was immaculate throughout and very well stocked with all utensils, crockery, multi media etc."

.. that one could wish for. Being dog friendly I expected to detect at least an air of prior canine visitors but honestly it was far cleaner than any other property I have ever stayed in with or without doggy visitors (and we are dog owners but didn't bring our pet on this occasion). I would highly recommend this property to anyone, even those with young children as you will not be disappointed! Its only a 5 minute drive or 25 min walk to Hope Cove through lovely countryside (a few very small lanes too) but thoroughly enjoyable and given the chance we will be back. Many thanks

  • "We loved the accommodation which was ideal for a group of friends."

It was very clean, in a great location and furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The only small thing to point out was there were no hangers in any of the wardrobes so we were unableto hang up our clothes. It was manageable for a couple of days but wouldn't have been ideal for a longer stay Havimg said that we would love to return sometime.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay at Spring Barn. We are very happy to hear that you had a lovely stay at that the accommodation suited your requirements. Thank you for letting us know about the hangers we have now arranged for some to be supplied. We do hope that you choose to book with us again and we look forward to welcoming you back to the area soon. Property Owner

  • "Spring Barn was absolutely lovely."

The location was faultless and the grounds were fantastic. There was more than enough space for 8 adults and a little one to stay there. The cottage was very homey, and felt like home during the stay. The only thing one of the visitors struggled with was hitting their head on the light shade when entering the cottage. All the other lights were ceiling lights. This is a very small issue compared to the 6ft 8 person who kept hitting their head. But it honestly didn't put a damper in our stay there. Will definitely be back as the location was perfect. And some of the beaches near the cottage were stunning. Better than beaches abroad we have been to. Overall, we had a lovely stay. And was perfect for some much needed family time.

  • "We didn't like the "upside down" floor lay out, which made it difficult having to track up and down the stairs with food, plates etc in order to eat in the garden."

Not good from a Health & Safety point of view. Talking of which the stairgate at the bottom of the stairs was a bit of a hazard to get over. This would be better placed by the one step at the beginning of the bedroom hallway as there is no way to stop the dogs going into this area or better still put a door there and do away with the bottom stairgate.

  • "House and garden are lovely and we enjoyed the week very much."

Because dogs are allowed, we found a distinct smell of dogs which we could not eradicate - especially in the bedrooms (where they are not allowed - but which are all downstairs near the only exit). Only one key was provided proving a real frustration at times. Previous user had disconnected the DVD lead from the back of the TV - which took some time to find and put right. Nevertheless a good venue near to Hope Cove which was perfect for the youngsters.

  • "Well equipped and immaculate cottage - perfect for large family."

We stayed with 4 adults, 4 children ( 9-5) and a grandma and had a great week. Accommodation is large and spacious. Hope Cove is fabulous, but bit too far towalk with small children, especially in evening. Be aware that small room/study that can be used as a potential extra bedroom, does house the boiler and therefore is very noisy when water is operated elsewhere in house. Great garden for the children!

  • "The property was lovely."

Very spacious and well equipped. A proper home from home. Our whole family (us, our three children and their spouses and one new baby) spent a very enjoyable week there. We will return (in fact, one of our sons and some friends have booked the property for a week in September when they are attending a wedding in Hope Cove).

About the location

HOPE COVE

Salcombe 4.6 miles; Kingsbridge 5.1 miles

The picturesque and unspoiled village of Hope Cove lies in the sheltered curve of Bigbury Bay on Devon’s south coast. A choice destination for families, the two beaches offering soft sand and rock pools for sandcastle building and fishing for small crabs. The town remains a fishing village where crabs and lobsters are still landed, however it was once used by smugglers. Many ships have perished around the coast and the wrecks that lie beneath the waves make it a popular spot for divers. Above the beach there are a number of pubs and restaurants. The coastal footpath can be joined from here and leads towards Bigbury-on-sea in one direction and the coastal resort of Salcombe in the other.
